Obviously this has been asked a thousand times about the older bikes, however will I risk damaging the engine exceeding the 600 limit (metal shards and crap oil)? I intend on keeping the bike long term so just wondering. Noticed a lot of people doing 100 mile oil changes, which got me worried...

Hit 590, changed my oil. Used Motul 300V. No issues with the oil change, used the passenger peg bolts to grab the filter cover, worked great. Rode 2 hours to KC, had the reset done for $17, and two hours back. Cleaned up and ready to go for the week. No yellow on the tach, I like it...

i did not want just the oil changed....there is an initial service that while a bit boring, "kinda sorta" is ok to do, if you feel like forking out for another hour labor...some will scoff at the idea, i'm okay with it the service took 2 hours including the oil change he did: -DDS...

This is a question for anyone in the Dallas, TX area. I called the dealer I bought my 1199 from. I asked for a ballpark figure on the 600 mile service. I was qouted $450 dollars. I have seen posts where people have payed around $250 to $300 dollars. What gives?

Does a warning or reminder come up on the dash for the service? I am at 605 miles right now and don't see anything. I want to take it in for service, but I don't want to get it back....ride 10 miles...then see a service light pop up. SO I guess my question is if there is a service light...
