disable

On the 959, is this a common mod? Was wondering if it had any downsides, other than a little more noise from the stock exhaust at lower RPM... I have done it on other bikes to get rid of some surging at the area where the valves opens and closes, plus some bikes it gets stuck, or squeaks...
