I have a mystery oil leak. I changed out my clutch cover, pressure plate, and clutch slave. I took the clutch rod out to clean it when I put it all back together then I took it out for a spin. When I got back I noticed oil was leaking out from where the clutch slave meets up to the body of the motor. Took it to a shop and they were saying there's a rubber gromet that goes behind the chain guard that was broken so they replaced it. I took it out for a spin and I still see oil splatter on my rear wheel on the inside like it flung off the chain. Also after it sits for a bit a few droplets on the ground underneath where the kickstand is. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

good luck, your going to be fine man...the issue is internal oring does not seal well...they made upgrade to 1299, but some still have same exact issue.

the little skinny metal piece, between the slave and motor...put some seal on BOTH sides. Ensure you clear the oil first, and wipe with rubbing alcohol. Will be a pain to get all the old oil and debris cleaned up...but its critical for this.

You can also order the 1299 version of that plate, it has a better sealing surface...but that didnt work for me either, i tried that prior to the yamabond.

Also, i used a dremal and cut the chain gaurd down a lot, like this: Next post

also helps you keep eyes on this part of the bike...i find that pretty valuable myself.

See how I cut all the plastic off?

Ok, so cut off al the plastic from the chain guard and apply the yamabond on both sides around the circle part and then torque it back down?

yes sir...i would tighten about 1/2 way...wait an hour, then tighten the rest of the way. Wait 24hrs before you heat cycle...and your gonna be golden my man!
