Team - I'm continuing down my engine learning & building journey but seeking a few more clarifications on key part differences between the models.

On the rotating assembly it's clear the crank, rods, and pistons are different - I have all that information already.

Question is on the heads can anyone confirm:
  1. If the valves are the same (diameter and materials and if so what are the differences)?
  2. Are the cam profiles that same or different (if so what is the difference in spec)?
  3. Any valvetrain differences of the same in both models for the opening and closing arms, etc.

We've already talked this one out in PM, but for everyone else out there, the 1199 and 1299 heads and valve train/cams are basically the same pieces. There are subtle differences in things like the valve covers and ancillaries in the top end, mostly for stiffening and to reduce noise and harmonics slightly, but they swap across between the two engines with no modifications or problems, if you so desire. The valve covers differ, with ribbing on the 1299 to increase stiffness, the water pump is different, with bolt hole/alignment sleeve changes, but the 1299 unit can be put on the 1199 if you are careful about alignment on the bolts to center the impeller properly. Other than that and some emissions considerations with sensors and a later computer setup, the only major difference is the bottom end pieces and pistons/sleves.
