2012 1199 base - Blown vertical piston/head 30K miles

I think what you have circled is removed by a CNC machine at manufacturing, likely cleaning up a raw forged crankshaft.

You are factually correct. The crank would be marked up if it had done that, and its so clean its obviously CNC
