$2500 and a savings of 4lbs.

But it's CF - when you hit a ripple in a road, instead of just the wheel breaking, the entire bike falls a part? Is this DOT? Cuz u could get sued or arrested for riding it :D

Whilst these are structural CF they take very different forces to wheels!

F1 cars, super cars and the aero industries cant be wrong with structural CF and we should note NONE of them use CF wheels most likely for that very reason. Wheels take a beating!

IMHO :D

If only the bank account was healthier, nice kit! :p

They make the handles of a hammer out of CF, but not the head. Just sayin'.

A hammer wouldn't be much good with a really light head, now would it? Want things strong and heavy, make 'em out of steel. Strong and light, however... ;)

lol, ik

My point is they don't put CF on, or make things out of it, that are expected to impact anything. Mainly lightweight, anti -corrisive. For like, say, toliet seats are a perfect application. :D

This probably belongs in the BST wheel thread, but as soon as I saw this posted today I knew I had to share it with you Trauma... ;)

The Torqued Wrench: Ambrosio Nemesis wheels expire in the pro peloton

It's basically an obituary for the Ambrosio Nemesis rim, the last, super-strong metal wheel rim in pro cycling, long-revered and reserved in recent years for use in only the hardest-ass race on the pro calendar on wheels; Paris-Roubaix. For non-cyclists, just do a Google image search on Paris Roubaix. A couple of quotes, and again this is from an article posted today (emphasis mine):

"Carbon rims, which once cracked if stared at too long, have seen rapid advances in resin and fiber technology in recent years. The new technology has allowed the rims to take dramatic, bone-shaking, carbon-on-granite impacts in stride. In fact, most high-end carbon wheels now have impact strengths so high that the force required to cause a failure would do similarly catastrophic damage to an aluminum wheel. The reasons to stick with the old Nemesis, then, are sadly all but gone."

"The year 2013 marks the final chapter of the aluminum rim's old book, the end of nearly a century of success and failure, of joy and defeat, and millions upon millions of happy miles. May the Nemesis, the last of its kind, rest in the peace it deserves."

Well OK then... :p
