So i was riding along and someone pulled up and said " i had a Ducati 748 and your bike sounds totally 100% different then mine did"

come to think he is right, this Panigale sounds way off to traditional Ducs...
No dry clutch rattle, no Desmo valve clatter, no choppy pop...pop exhaust note.

yes i know we have a wet clutch now and blah blah blah... but the exhaust was such a signature note

any thoughts on why? is it the curvature of the exhaust?

Sounds much better with full akras than any other Ducati before the 1199. At least in my opinion.

Definitely the Akra will change your mind.

The best sounding bike I have ever heard.

Agreed.

The difference is the really oversquare, faster revving motor. It gives it more of a F1 car sound rather than a tractor sound.

The 1x98 bikes revved so slow it was almost as if you could count the revolutions. The 1x99 bikes rev much faster and sound more refined.

After I got the full Akra I was on a ride with a mate on his ST4. I had it wound up passing him on a freeway on ramp and he said later "I thought I was in the middle of a WSBK race when you passed me"

I think you are spot on must be the curvature of the exhaust. Just kidding. Who cares why and how. It just sounds good.

My favorite sound is the loud POP of unspent fuel igniting between WOT shifts. I mean damn is there a better sound than a clutchless shift between gears on hard reving 1299 at full song with an Akra full exhaust & tune? I don't think so. A friend of mine was riding behind me at night and all he could talk about was the POP between shifts and the fire coming out of the left and right side of my bike. Great stuff I say.

What you described is essentially motorcycling nirvana

I just put a full Akra on my 1299S and it sounds absolutley friggin awesome. When its out flat chat it sings. Fire coming out of the exhaust is amazing at night, I get that coming down the hill into Adelaide. Such a great bike, and music to my ears...

Another Adelaide 1299 owner :)

while I LOVE my 1299, I also am objective - the Superquadro has a thinness to the sound compared to the longer stroke 1198. It still has a nice bass thump; I'll never go back to a whiney inline-4. But even without the dry clutch, the 1198 is pure thunder.
