Okay, so I searched the forum and looked through 49 pages of threads in this topic but could not find what I sure to have seen already. So apologies for the repeated thread - link to the previous one on the topic is welcome.
Friend is prepping a very clean 1199 Base that only had 1 previous owner and is confirmed to have always been taken care of, never abused. There is cca 3000 miles on the clock.
Last weekend the bike started stuttering at around 5000 rpm, as if there was a pit-lane limiter engaged which the bike does not have. Fuel pump was checked and found to be okay. Very importantly: there is no error code showing on the dash. Faulty spark plug came to mind but why would that happen at this stage. Any thoughts or hand on experience with similar problem?
Thanks!

I have had that on a 748 with a bad plug. Rolling on the throttle it would chug
and lose drive. It also had a second dangerous symptom that if you kept the gas
on, it would slowly build up rpm until the bad plug would come back on at about 6-7000 rpm.
The bike would then take off unpredictably.

If it is a bad plug, then you can be sure it will be the one which is the biggest PITA to access.

This would be my first assumption.

Have a look and see if the rear cylinder spark plug cable isn't pinched between the tank and the rear of the airbox/frame. Check it's also firmly snugged into the coil, too.

Yes it is 100% the map sensor. To figure out which cylinder map sensor needs changing check your plugs. The fouled plug corresponds to the bad sensor.

Does the bike have a Rapid Bike tuner? I had this going on with a 1199. Had the RB reflashed and the problem went away.

No tune yet. Suspension has been upgraded to Ohlins front and rear and a full Termi system is mounted. Other than those it is stock. My friend is now looking at the map sensors and plugs but is too busy. I will report on the finding. Thanks everyone!
