1199r power?

I don't expect to see a big difference in headline BHP number so 195 or 200 makes no difference to me but from what i hear there should be a huge improvement in the mid range.

For me 1199 R is a very watered down R compared to prior editions, Ducati did a great job with the base model so there does not seem to be a huge amount they can do with the engine but it would of been nice to see carbon fairings and a different suspension set up.

^Yeah like gas-charged forks off of RS13

that would be a nice place to start and all for under $30k :D

in all seriousness i thought the R model would be around the $40k mark but it would be a proper R but from talking to a number of people who work for Ducati their logic behind it is they do not think the economy is strong enough to sell bikes for $40k which i agree with but i would of preferred for them to wait a little longer before releasing a new model as this model dilutes the R ethos IMHO.

Buy the R and install a race race body and gas charged forks - DONE. You are at $45k.

Haha this. I find it amusing when people get worked up about the R missing this and that. Just install it like you install the other mods. You have it retailing it for 15k less so use that money.

Hi guys does the 1199r have 195hp or 201hp.the site says 195.im confused

The 1199R is able to rev 500rpm higher. Remember HP = (Torque * RPM) / 5252. Therefore the R should be over 200HP.

What is interesting is the torque would have drop to 63lbs to reach 201HP at redline. If the torque stayed at the claimed 98lbs then the HP should jump by 9. So the 1199R should have between 201 - 204 HP at redline.

^ Ducati claim 235bhp for the desmo gp13. That doesn't mean the bike 'only' has 235.

Max torque is produced when BMEP (Brake Mean Effective Pressure) is at it's highest. No engine will maintain this at max power. The torque is falling off by this point - but is still enough to produce more hp due to higher engine speed. It might be an idea for you to read "Tuning for speed" by Phil Irving (who designed the Vincent engines).

Makes sense but why is the ducati site claiming 195hp

I guess the engine power is the same (195 HP) but with the Termi Full system they are getting 15% more HP in the midrange and 6% more HP at top end. I imagine because of the 500 extra RPM plus the Full system they are able to create a map for the ECU to generate the extra gains in the Mid range and high end.

It will be interesting to see what WSBK will be getting.

See the article below.
