Full throttle Power loss after 9000 rpm

Is there a log from the lean over sensor or IMU that suggests it’s been in an accident? Not that it would influence what’s causing this. Sounds like Ducati or the dealer is now trying to weasel their way out of this mess. Something isn’t kosher here

The black box you mean? Conveniently Ducati says it has been switched out. 😑

At least on the newer bikes when the throttle signal starts to go bad it largely stops the quick shifter from working, because that relies on the throttle input being within parameters or it just disables it. Dunno if that’s true on a 2018 bike though.

No issues with throttle or quick shifter. Although the QS is very slow and I was about to change it to an aftermarket.

So finally the issue is resolved... Fingers crossed!
Turned out to be the spark plugs (or the clutch switch as it was also changed at one go)
Sepang trackday coming up!🎉

I find the hp and torque so be correct (at the wheel) but the revs are lower than other V4s. Need to ask the workshop about that but does anyone have experience with this?

Yeah, it definitely was not the spark plugs.

The clutch switch indeed can cause the problem as the rpms are limited by the ECU(ETC position) when the clutch is held in. However there would also be several other clutch in/out related problems if the switch were shorted to the “in” position such as the bike would still start with the clutch lever released while in gear and/or with the side stand extended. If stuck open in the “out” position it would not start with the clutch lever pulled while in gear and/or with the side stand extended.

I “assumed” the dealer(?) tech(?) would have checked/verified operation of such basics which is why I said the “tune” earlier. The dyno graph clearly shows that the throttle is closing to limit the rpm rather than some spark-related problem. Lesson to be learned is most dealer/shops are literally “ignorant” of the many electronic functions.

At least they(?) contacted someone for the basic motorcycle systems info. Were the levers changed recently? That’s a sure indicator of likely related error.

I'm thinking clutch switch too. If the bike has evidence of a front impact it's feasible the controls were damage and later repaired without the clutch switch being properly diagnosed. The dealer tool is more than capable of doing it, it can tell you if it is depressed or not. They are very fragile, I broke one by pressing the plunger with my finger. A signal from the clutch lever while the bike is in gear will cause a limit to the RPM, I didn't think as high as the OP experienced though.

Agreed. I mentioned mod history before. It's good troubleshooting on these things to look at everything which deviated from OEM as a possible source of trouble. It goes to speak to the problems with threads like this. I hope the information here helps someone else, but it's really hard to diagnose something that isn't in front of you. The info you can pickup just from a visual observation is huge and posters don't often post enough to really walk someone onto a full understanding of what's going on.
