Sorry for the delay but here you go.

I have been asked on a few post to note down my suspension settings. My bike is set up for UK bumpy roads and I mainly ride fast road.

My bike was setup at JHP Ducati Coventry. If any of UK guys are looking at getting a similar setup I'd highly recommend JHP and you can ask the techs to taylor the set up to your riding style and requirements.

I run my SPORT mode with the DES settings below and the RACE mode has my DES settings for track work. To set it up for track I'd also wind on some preload which is easy on the front but slightly more difficult on the rear.

Rider Height: 5ft 6"
Rider Weight: 75kg

Front - Original

DES Compression: 18
DES Rebound: 12
Preload (mm): 8
Spring Rate (lbs): 10
Oil Level: 220
Ride Height: 195
Offset (mm): 30

Front - New

DES Compression: 11
DES Rebound: 14
Preload (mm): 7
Spring Rate (lbs): 9
Oil Level: 210
Ride Height: 195
Sag (mm): 24
Offset (mm): 30

Rear - Original

DES Compression: 18
DES Rebound: 12
Preload (mm): 14
Spring Rate (lbs): 9
Ride Height: 224
Sag (mm): 8

Rear - New

DES Compression: 16
DES Rebound: 13
Preload (mm): 13
Spring Rate (lbs): 8
Ride Height: 217
Sag (mm): 20

All other changes to my bike are cosmetic so have no real impact on performance.

Here's a pic from my Nurburgring Trip last year :D

and what about the new feeling ?

Front is end is softer so you can feel how much grip you have. I found on the original settings there was no dive on the forks and the bike just felt very stiff.

The rear is also really well settled and I no longer get thrown around the seat on bumpy UK roads.

Overall the bike just has more feel so you can understand how much grip you have and it just communicates better through the seat and the bars.

I can ride faster now without worrying about what the bike will do next. Out the box its very well suited to track work but I'm a road rider so need some compliance and feel.

Im about the same weight and total road use as there are no tracks on the islands I live on.

The spring rates is the one thing I've been trying to work out, if it's as simple as going down 1lb front and rear over standard I might give it a try.

Thanks for sharing this!

Kam, did they change the internal valving on the forks and shock, or just the settings? Thanks.

The guys at JHP are great.

On your spring rate units, I assume these figures are kg/mm, not lbs as indicated.

I'm 5'8". What seats do you use and feel that is working for you?

Good thread

This is a very good topic that comes up alot for riders. Obviously, it all depends on your weight and ride style (and of course other variables) but this setting is what I use right now which were "suggested" by my tech based on his own experience and feedback from other riders. I found that after setting it to "P" and using these settings, the bike rides SO MUCH better without the ... jarring ride I had set before!

Those of you around 200 pds riding on the street should give it a try and then bump it up or down depending on your feel. Just an idea I thought I'd pass on. :D

Just wanted to say that I tried the JHP settings and for me they are a definite improvement over default Sport and Race, sitting somewhere in-between :)

I weight only 125lb.......should I even go down 2 steps for front 8kgmm / rear 7 kgmm?
The stock F 10 kgmm / rear 9 kgmm really throw me off the bike on bumpy public road.
On my 1098s.......I used F 9 / R 8......... I still found it too hard on public road.
Thx for suggestions !
