Story starts with heading up north to do some country riding, day was going good until some rain passed through making the roads wet ahead of us. We were going along pretty good and slowed to about 70km/h when the roads were wet. Around one left turn I saw a big momma deer on the road crossing, I was far enough to just let off the throttle and let the deer cross. As I started to get closer this other smaller deer darted right out in front of me and I had no time to react or brake or anything it scared the .... out of me. The Impact was so freaking hard like hitting a brick wall, I flipped over my handle bars, feet in the air, back tire off the ground wiggling side to side dragging the deer 25 feet until it drifted to the side. I somehow was able to finger the brake leaver enough to not fall and some how not dropping it. A moment went through my head oh .... its going down but I cared so much about the bike I wanted to keep it up. My friends said the deer got up, then dropped to the ground wiggling its feet and just died.

I came to a stop shaking stalling the bike cuz it was in 4th gear. Put it on the kick stand and got off to realize what actually happened. I still am shocked I smoked a deer, I would of always thought I'd have enough time to stop, swerve or even miss it because I'm agile and so skinny compared to a car.

I walked away perfectly fine, had to load it in a truck and bring it back because the rad cracked and coolant was everywhere.

...... bush rats, I hate em. Glad you survived unscathed apart from shitting your pants, hopefully insurance will cover your bike repairs

And those bush rats are always in pairs, if you see one, you can be .... sure there's another .... lurking close by waiting to ambush you....

Glad to hear you were able to keep it up<snicker...>. Hope there's no lingering issues with the bike from the impact.

Hope you got some venison out of the deal.

When I see deer in/just off the road, I don't slow down. I STOP. They're completely unpredictable how they're going to react (it's actually a survival tactic against predators).

Down here, they're affectionately known as rats with antlers.

Glad you're okay. And the Pani looks like it's good to go - just need some minor cosmetics done.

Good job keeping it upright, deer , wild boar, wild turkeys and buzzards are a real problem around my neck of the woods, and when the conditions are right contact is just un avoidable.

Frosty Mk2...

Glad you walked away from your prang ok. I hit a horse once on a GSX1100EX back in 1980. Broke a finger in that one but after the bike had some minor repairs I continued my solo ride around Australia.

what the F**k ever happened to Mr "negative" Frosty ?

I think the only thing dumber and with very poor eyesight is the Kangaroos we have out here in Australia.
