1299 acceleration

I doubt it. That is also so rider subjective as to be useless IMHO.

Who cares?? It will be fast 'nuff said....

No not a drag bike for me, just found it interesting the 899 was faster than the 1199.

I assume its a traction issue and maybe fixed with the new electronics.

I don't plan on breaking 160 soon either.

To the shop for some groceries or faster in depreciation ? WTF are you talking about ?

Yea sorry, poor choice of words....

0-60 and quarter mile times were faster on the 899.

Not that, that it matters much, I just found it intriguing. Hell the 899 is more than enough bike for me, but I love the single swing arm look, the 1299 reviews at saying it's more street friendly than the 1199.

I think your wrong

The data is rather inconsistent.

Here is one where the 899 is faster 0-60. 1199 clips it in the 1/4.

The 899 is geared lower I believe, probably less electronic intervention to keep the rear tire from spinning from dead stop.

As someone else said who cares.

I just curious that's all. Recovering from back surgery on the couch nothing else to do.

back is from genetics, not a a newbie Pani crash...

What times did you run in the 1/4 mile on your 899, there is no way in hell it's going to be quicker or faster than an 1199

I saw a review with listed the 0-60 time of the 899 a few tenths quicker than the 1199, but the 1199 had a better 1/4 mile time by a larger margin...still a few tenths apart though.

I would expect the 899 0-60 time was due to its 43 tooth sprocket.

Either way, the skill of the rider to launch and hook up that much power is the issue.

on the 1/8 mile, the power doesnt really matter.

TBH, less is prolly easier.

the longer the distance, the more the power and aerodyn. come into play.

with the 1299 wheelie control and such, you can surely expect better strip and 0-60 times, as the electronics will keep the thing planted as you set it and not as your brain/wrist/...-feedback loop computes.

i found my 1/8mi times better with everything off, since it provided best acceleration (with allowed wheelspin and less restricted (DTC) power) but still always on the verge of snapping up the front with a slightly quick throttle aor clutch out too fast.

cheers!

I am sure that a drag racer who drinks nothing but coffee and inhales nothing but cigarretes can reach a quarter mile of 9.9seconds on this bike

I doubt that.

I ran 9.8 sec on a stock 1199 and 9.6 still stock but strapped front end.

i concur.

the pull of the 1199 reaching up to other bikes at the end of the 1/8 i saw, will definitely outrun an 899 for the next 1/8 mile, no matter how terrible you start.

Base stats published will probably be a sub 3.0 sec 0-60 and sub 10 sec for 1/4 mile. At the end of the day those numbers still matter to some folks. I see and hear it all the time at Cars N' Coffee meets (not nessecarily the owners themselves). It also huge for general marketing.

Funny story...A "friend" of mine was trying to convince me this newly purchased Ariel Atom is faster than any bike produced. I simply told him that he is misinformed since I'm only down 40hp on him and down over 900 pounds.
