Inspired by the successful thread on the mods done to your rides, I was wondering what would (obviously subjective) you consider a 'must'?

I don't yet have a Pani, but on my ride, I considered a lithium battery, revalved suspension, and a gel seat to be important.

Your opinion (preferably for a 1299 base)?

I see that in my case, learning to read should be the first on my list!!!

Thank you Rogue, and sorry for the repeat thread.

Mods

Lith battery, NO! according to my dealership!
Seat NO! Race seat is better for grip;)
Re-valved suspension Why? (Valentino?)
A MUST, Fit a thumb operated rear brake with dual independent foot/thumb controls and master cylinders (If you dare)
Chuck out the ugly mirrors and mount flush fitting
Fit a "Bike Sport Developments" auto-blip downshift if you don't have this as standard (My "R" is prior to this mod)
Shorten the clip-on's, throttle and grips, move controls inboard to get your elbows in
Chuck out ALL the plastic and go carbon including a full fairing
Some decent rear-sets to "get yer arse up"
A bike- movie-cam, set up rearwards to capture the disappearing opposition!
Fit a camera detector
Fit a quick release sump oil drain plug
Ditch any non functional parts
Fit dry-break fluid couplings
Buy some "brown" underpants or disposables:
NO go-faster useless gismo's

A must for me was adjustable rearsets because I needed adjustments that allowed my fused ankle to manipulate the shifter. All the other things such as a lithium battery, taller windshield, aftermarket levers, and radiator covers were nice to have add-ons but not necessities.

LOL. Yeah, disregard the suspension but you MUST have a thumb brake and full carbon fairings. Geez...

race seat, rizoma footpegs and brake lever protector, good to go, just ride.

From my long time association with Ducati's and the stories i have heard the best mod you can do before you take it on the road is radiator guards, one stone or bolt on the road or track can ruin your day......everything else is for personal modifications, these are for protection.

Most important mod and really the only mod you need is the little button on the dash that turns it into the 1299 an R1.

I have a Shorai on my 1199 for about 2 years now. No problems with it. I also have one on a 450 Berg and no problems with that either. I think your dealer is talking thru his ... about Lithium batteries on a Panigale.

My Anniversario comes stock with the lithium battery. All those mods without dialing in your suspension

I kinda have the "carbon addiction" on this bike to be honest. I think the plastic parts really do look cheap so i ordered all the Ducati Performance carbon parts i could (almost) but well, getting a brand new bike doesn't happen everyday right ?

The Panigale is a fantastic bike, but to me compared to the R1, S1000RR and others, it really needs carbon and some accessories to look amazing (no matter what you do on japanese bikes, they will never look "amazing", just good). We're kinda used to see Japanese bikes being built with cheap plastics so it's okay, but on an italian bike, i always except it to be on an another level. I don't know if you guys think the same ?

So basically i would say carbon parts (my own taste), especially the rear hugger, brake / clutch fluid tanks, and a nice windscreen. But all of those are only my personnal taste, nothing really is a "need" on this bike.
