Hi guys, im in the process of rebuilding my Ducati 1299 Panigale engine and noticed a bit of an inconsistency on the tightening process of the con rods in the manual! Anyone know what the correct process of these 2 and what is the correct grease to use (grease b or grease e)? It’s a standard 1299 engine!

There are so many inconsistencies and typos in the manual it's so frustrating.

Honestly not sure which is the correct procedure for the rod bolts, but I would go with the step by step directions with the pictures as it's much more detailed. Either way there's not much difference between them and the kind of grease you use wont be a deal (engine) breaker as long as you do use grease.

The most important thing is to double check final torque and bolt stretch and use new bolts.

Yes I was considering that perhaps it didn’t matter as long as the rod bolt stretch worked out similar as that should be the only thing that matters! In the first bit it quotes less torque but more angle to follow. So I thought maybe it achieves the same thing. But then you can see the quoted rod bolt stretch figure differs slightly! Of all the bolts on the engine these would be the ones I want to get the torque right with as you can imagine!

The first set of directions look they are for ti rods

Guessing the second is for steel rods?
