Hi All,
I wanted to see if anyone had any input on riding a 1299 in Florida. I am a person who loves the bike for some weekend rides in the twisties, and do not see that possibility in Florida where I will move in a year.

So my dilemma, sell the bike instead of let it sit and get something more suited to straight lines, flat roads, and heat or discover some hidden gem in the area that allows me to continue my love of twisties.

Thanks for the thoughts,

KPN

In my mind, I can hardly think of a worse state than Florida to own and ride any motorcycle. Maybe parts of Texas or some other mid-west state.

I certainly can't think of a worse choice of bike to own and ride in Florida than the 1299.

I have no empirical data to back up these statements.

I believe there is a big bike scene in Tampa FL. I got one of my bike from Tampa and they have a great dealer named Euro Cycles. There are also people who track their bikes there as well so I dont see why you cant enjoy your 1299. yes it is hot and flat...

Tampa is one of the city I consider retiring at and Texas. Texas is also hot but there are some twisties and many race tracks.

We call what happens to the rear tire the Florida flat spot. There is not alot of twisties. There are roads with a few turns but that's it, mostly scenic rides and strait roads. Great for cruiser rides. Been in the Orlando area since 86' riding since 99'. You'll see alot of stretched swing arms and lowing links on sport bikes in orlando area. Only real option to satisfy the urge here is track days at Jennings or PBIR.

Orlando fl

I live in Orlando
Ocala national forest is a good ride on weekends, however I mainly do deals gap 2-3 times yearly and track days

Thanks for the replies. Confirming what I more or less knew to be true in the first place. :(
