1299 v its dad

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

And half the people here with 1299s will have dumped them and be off chasing whatever the Journos call out for bike of the week.
Many of the 1299 riders will have had unvoluntary dismounts chasing highest lean angles, looking at the lean sensor while cornering :p

There is always animosity from previous generation owners when something new comes out. I see it on every forum (cars and bikes), worldwide. It should be expected because everyone loves their car/truck/bike and nobody wants to be told the new one is better.

Yep - everyone wants to think they have "the best"

"For over a thousand years Roman conquerors returning from the wars enjoyed the honor of triumph, a tumultuous parade. In the procession came trumpeteers, musicians and strange animals from conquered territories, together with carts laden with treasure and captured armaments. The conquerors rode in a triumphal chariot, the dazed prisoners walking in chains before him. Sometimes his children robed in white stood with him in the chariot or rode the trace horses. A slave stood behind the conqueror holding a golden crown and whispering in his ear a warning: that all glory is fleeting.”

No doubt the 12 is way better than the 11!

But with some mods you get an 11 closer to a 12.

If
The hat gap is still too big for someone - 1299 it
Is!

The reality is any sportbike of the past 10 years will put a huge grin on it's owners face. It really boils down to looks for most.

The 1198 looks better and is better. LOL!
I could have bought any new bike and chose a 2011 1198.
I read all the forums and most people hated themselves for selling the 1198 and getting the 1199. I think the Superbike has the real Ducati look. The average Joe Blow could mistake the 1199 and 1299 for any Jap Crap.

Old school

I am a old school kinda guy. That's why I have a 1940 Piper Cub and a Biplane :)
The new 1299's are sweet but I like the retro Ducati look with the frame and rear exhaust. I have been wanting to get some pictures of the bike and Pitts together.

I think you're out of your mind....Panigale design is like NO OTHER!! :D
And that's coming from a professional Industrial Designer.

Point I am making here is they don't the way the 1199 goes about its business, 1299s comes out to make everyone's life much nicer, then the new R comes out and then they say that this is now the dogs bollocks and the 1299s doesn't give the same feed back, R from what I read and not ridden one behaves like a crazier version of the 1199 top end wise! the point is not about the 999/1098/1198/R1/R6, and so I reckon my 1199 with full ohlins, termi or Akrapovic and a set of wheels would compete with the 1299s, so why do I need to buy another bike when I like my lunatic over in the garage and its still better than most for the next five years!

Funny how all most the Mag' Journalists change their tune 1 yr later. Just like politians
They make some people feel like their was such major development that your bike is now a relic

What amazes me is that pro rider like McGuiness can dominate the TT on
an old relative under powered 2009 CBR 1000 / Fireblade SP, no traction control
ABS etc The rider is 1 of the most important elements
