900 miles on the bike now and till blown away. Couple of things to note.....

The engine os absolutely insane, the power it makes is otherworldly. It just pulls, it'll rip your arms off if you let it. Still blown away, it'll leave the Panigale R left for dead.
The Euro 4 exhaust on this bike is sad, you can feel how much it chokes up the bike. You can just feel how restricted it is, its hard to explain. Its quiet, very quiet. After having had my 1299 S with the full akra and the Panigale R with the race akra also this is like whisper drive. Its also makes the bike run hotter. Im used to the Panigale heat and this is a step above that. Simply put, it needs the race exhaust.

OK, this bike is special. When you ride it you can tell, everything about it. The look, the engine, the way to handles, its just a little different.

To me, this is the bike I wanted. I have no doubt the V4 will be something awesome, but this bike is ANGRY. I absolutely love that about it.

Do they make a mid-pipe yet to remove those mufflers? That's what you need.

And a visit to 2Wheel Dyno Works for some tuning.

Kevin, good write up and review. I couldn't agree more.

I just crossed the 200 mile mark and have started to explore the bike's capabilities. The motor as you say is bonkers. It's just nuts how hard it pulls. Without wheelie control it's impossible to keep the front wheel down in first or second. Never experienced anything like it with my Panigale R.

I also noticed you have to be really smooth on the throttle coming out of a corner, again due to how the motor delivers power. It'll slide easily if you're not rolling on. Surprised me a bit at first.

Tone of exhaust note sounds good to me but as you mention is way too quiet and restricted. I love the look though (minus the underbelly piece).

Hard to see how the v4 can be much more ferocious. This is a very clear and distinct step function above the Panigale R. Can't wait until she's fully broken in.

Kevin

how is the rpm limit on this bike?

Surely it's got the same exhaust manifold mounting points as the 1299S? Can use the old Akro underbelly full exhaust with some tweaks or is it a no go?

I'm not sure but I dare to venture that if can.

Phil who is the man behind the business also does projects and if you look him up on Facebook you can see the new system he has developed for the Panigale

I have asked about using the Akrapovic downpipes and mating them to hi-rise cans and its in the pipeline, after the full system he is developing is finished.

worth a look as an option

there will be the Race exhaust from the SL offered by Ducati Performance with the under belly and side stand functionality

Thanks for the feedback Kevin.

After 23.000 km in 3 years on a Desmosedici RR a few years ago, I expect my 1299 R FE for the end of this year.
