Hey All!

Looking to potentially get a new bike here in the next month or two, still on the fence. I've always enjoyed the 1299s. The bike is a true work of art in design and craftsmanship.

I bought a 2015 R1M when they first dropped and enjoyed it through September of 16'. It was an incredible bike. I've had lots, like many of us. Prior the the R1M was a S1000rr with Full Ohlins and most other performance tid bits one can get. That too was a great bike but just need not perform like the R1M. The M is one poised machine. If it weren't for the aesthetics I would no doubt be in another.

Here's where the tire meets the asphalt for me. The M lacks mid range power. Even with a Graves exhaust, Flash, sprockets it struggled to please me coming out of corners unless I was banging the top of the RPM range. Previous bikes (multiple ZX10's, s1000rr, etc) did not have this struggle. Second gripe were the aesthetics. I hated the graphics, all of the blue... While the bike had some awesome features (LED cluster, carbon fairings, raw aluminum tank) it still lacked the over all fit and finish to me. It was like a well modded R1, not something that came from the factory as a top of the line premium bonk.

That being said... The duc seems to have those last two. The wheels, single sided swing arm, Brembos and torque do it for me.

At the end of the day... These are both great bikes. There will be complete bias comments and accept and expect that.

From what I read, there are more reliability issues with the Duc. Apparently I will never have kids after the exhaust gets done toasting my balls and they can be a ..... to work on. I'm cool with all of that... (not as much the random shut down).

I use this bike PURELY for riding through the mountains. I dont ride down to the local starbucks, dont take it to the mall on a nice day, likely wont take it to the track.

I'm looking for honest feedback... From those that have either had very current bikes (2015+) or other top line competitors (Ape, s1000rr, etc.)... What are you take aways? Pro's and Con's. If anyone has had an M that would be insanely ideal, but I'm not expecting it.

For your time and replies; below are some pictures and a couple of videos.
