Hey guys, first thanks for your help.

I found a 13 1199 R in a distant city for 10,000$. Its in a reputable dealership
and the vin checks out clean.

The bike is all black with the polished aluminum tank part black.

I'm sure they never made a black 1199R

Does the black fairings affect the value? Should the R version fairings be carbon fiber?

Is there a chance I could be getting tricked somehow? The price looks suspicious. Have Panigale Rs sold for 10,000 before?

It may have been crashed, I have not asked the owner yet but the dealer said no. I dont know why they would change the color to black including the polished aluminum tank to black.

Is this a good deal?

Thanks guys I hope to be a ducati owner this week. Always loved them but for now I ride a 2012 daytona 675R that I love.

My very amateur assessment of the bike would be that it was probably tracked. The fact that the tank has been painted would be a red flag for me, personally. Fairings swapped due to cost/crash etc. Keep in mind this is all speculation.

Factory color was red only. Fairings not made of carbon fiber.

I wouldn't take the dealerships reputation to mean that the bike doesn't have a history.

I cant speak to any other 13 R's selling for 10k. A couple have recently been posted here for 12-15k if my memory serves right. 10 is pretty low. however, the v4 is the new hotness, so twin prices have been suffering a little imo.

Something else to consider, the service interval for that bike is 15k. And if its been ridden hard (i would suspect it has) then it will need a valve check soon. in some places that service runs 1200$, in others, closer to 2k. Something else to consider.

All in all, go with your gut. if something seems off, walk. Believe me, the money you might save buying a cheap Ducati can and will quickly dry up when things start going wrong...

Agreed. The R was never made in black. It was probably a track bike or wrecked. Still depending on the bikes shape 10K sounds good if all the service is up to date, and the title is clean. My 13 R was a great bike.

Peculiar to me that the passenger seat/pegs are on it. Somebody with a better eye could probably pick out an S vs an R but are you sure this isnt just an S model bike with a painted R tank? in other words, have you checked the vin to ensure its an R?

In the 7th photo I can see the ignition cover is missing a bolt fyi. and the one bolt that is there doesn't appear to be the hardware type that is supposed to be there from the factory. the bike looks very pieced together.

also, I would not buy this bike unless myself or someone experienced with these bikes gave it a thorough test ride/look over. if I were you, find time to make the transaction yourself so you aren't surprised after 10k has changed hands.

This listing just popped up on a facebook buy and sell ducati page and looks a little suspect. Hard to tell without a sharper photo but it doesn't look like it has the adjustable swing arm pivot that a proper R will have.
