15R Down

I've gone dirt tracking off 3 a couple of times in the past trying to save a pushing front. That corner is not to be messed with!

Twisted,
Glad to see you are ok and the bike was not too damaged. The scuffed leather suit adds that veteran racer look. :)

Glad you're ok Twisted. I did very similar damage first time out on my R last year after a lad went down in front of me.

Glad you're ok and wanting to ride again so quickly Twisted. Number 1 thing I hate about the track is when someone goes down and it makes them not want to ride again. Fixing a bike sucks, especially a Ducati - Its expensive. But the enjoyment should far outweigh those negatives or you shouldn't have been on the track to begin with.

In all my racing and trackday years this is my third time down. First was my fault as my brakes were fading in a race. I refused to slow down with two more bikes to pass, even though I was ahead by time by about 10 seconds. I was suffering from the red mist that day lol.

Second time was a Friday trackday before a race weekend. Two of us came flying into T8 at Pacific and this rider who was at the far outside edge of the track doing around 35 decided to drop into the racing line in front of us. Luckily I was able to scrub enough speed before loosing the front so all three of us didn't end up in the hospital. Luckily I never found out who that rider was or I would have been banned from the track.

This last time even though I was told that there was some slick stuff on the apex, I'll take the blame and back it off a hair till I get more time on that corner. It's a new track for me to learn and I was working it in three sections. WMRRA races between two tracks for the season. Pacific I'm very familiar with. The Ridge was built after my time. Fun track though.

Now it's those damn dirtbikes that always hurt me. Dirt is soft lol.

HAHA dude, I'm nursing a bruised rib from a fall on my dirt bike a couple weeks ago. It's almost 100% again but dang if falling in the dirt doesn't hurt more than it does on the street LOL

Are the tires you're using on your R SP or SC compounds? From the sounds of things, you seem to have plenty of pace. Why not use slicks?

I was wanting to run the stock tires for a couple of track days while getting used to the bike before I switched over to the slicks. But I think it is time to switch over LOL.

Hope you're ok Sutki.
Thanks, me Ok. Bike 99% ok. Strange...lost front in fast turn ( dijon), speed about 140km/h. Lost front end of the turn, no brakes, no gas, my 7th lap, tyres warm, same line etc.etc..sometimes never find out what happens..:)

Questions to all:

Did you guys setup your suspension or running stock settings?

I had my Suspension tuned by Dave Moss several times (after each session, he would look at the tires and adjust) and made a HUGE difference.

Stock settings was SUPER stiff and I had zero feelings. I am 100% confident that if I pushed just a little, I would've crashed.

I have a suspension tuner I work with. Setup was changed before I ever hit the track the first time.

My first track day I ran with mostly stock settings, I had changed a couple of clicks compression and rebound but never set sag. I also ran it in dynamic mode. For a bone stock bike it did pretty well. This is at a decent A group ,but not race) pace.

Flo is your racebike finally ready?
Yep, finally got it back and got some seat time. Had a couple issues that kept me from racing on Sat 6/24 but was able to race Sun 6/25. I had to start at the very back of the grid cause grid placement is based on series points. I placed 3rd out of 10 in the Novice 1000 class and 7th out 33 in the Open Sporstman. I pretty happy with the results of my first race day.

Awesome results for your first ever race. You will be up in first pretty darn soon.

Sutki those are the ones that bother me. As long as I can figure out why I crashed I can learn from it.
I hate wondering with no clear answers.

It's a bummer to back off because you're wondering if you going to crash and end up riding much slower than normal on that type of turn which reduces the fun. I plan to be out there Sunday and I'll see if I can figure it out. I personally don't have any problem with it and can't figure out why others are. Perhaps I'm just not going fast enough. My personal challenges on this track lie in other corners. I remember talking with another rider who crashed there last year; quite a good rider. I do know it's on top of a hill so perhaps there's some unloading of the suspension that goofing with the grip while trying to turn at the same time which also competes for grip. My two get-offs I've had in my 3+ years of trackdays I knew exactly why it happened so I was able to learn from it (they both involved red mist but what that did was introduce errors I normally don't make).

Your suspension does unload at the top. So depending on your speed and lean and though it could be a problem. I would know what the problem was except for the fact that They ended up cleaning some slick stuff at the apex where it crest.

That red mist, gets you every time LOL.
