So ive developed the leaking front fork on my base 1199. Thankfully it happened at the end of the season so im not out riding time.
Now heres where im looking for some help, I remember reading that the OE seals arent the way to go but i cant find out which ones are the good ones. Can anyone help a brother out? Thanks!

Hi mate,
Mine went two weeks ago. Searched the forum and as usual varying opinions. I have the S model and OEM Ohlins seals and dust covers were $43 a set. Considering my bike has done 18000 kms, that's good value for money.
Under any circumstances the tolerances are so fine with seals, considering the crap life they have to endure, in my opinion stick with OEM.

Anyone know if i need to remove fairings off the bike to replace the fork seals? I want to take off as much as i can to cut the repair time and costs. Thanks in advance

So you can loosen (and properly torque) the upper and lower triple tree clamp bolts on the forks without removing the fairings? My right front is intermittently leaking at random times so I will have to address this issue sooner or later. Thanks for any advice or help.

Yes. It can be a bit fiddly, but no where near as painful as removing front nose (IMO).

I used a small MTB torque wrench to get in and re-torque.

I gave them a small quirt with WD-40 before twisting/removing the fork from the lower clamp. Worked a treat.

Not sure if i got bamboozled or not but i just got it done at the shop and i had ordered some all balls seals, sure enough the shop says these arent the best and suggested i go with noks which they had of course. They werent much so i took their advice. All good to go so cmon summer
