I have a 2013 1199, I took it out got gas and did 50 miles no problem 2 days later pull it out of the garage start it up and instantly notice that it doesn't sound normal. The bike sounds weak and not aggressive. Start going for a ride and when I get on the throttle it boggs down and has zero power it also starts to sputter lmost. I also get a strong gas odor now when it's running. Any ideas what it could be?. Thanks in advance

likely a faulty MAP. Is it throwing any engine codes? Does it surge past a certain RPM?

It could also be a fouled plug, or your throttle position sensor. Any number of things, really. It needs to go to the dealer imo.

good luck

I always like the cheapest option first. Since you filled it with gas and then it started you may have burned the good gas out and then as the new (possibly bad) gas came into play started having issues. Sure would be easy to siphon off and replace with a fresh tank (preferably ETOH free). If that doesn't work I would move on to the suggestions above.

Good luck...

Change the plugs first see if it improves

Second this. Vertical plug is easy to reach and could tell you any number of things. Beyond that, good luck getting to the horizontal. if you're still under warranty let the dealership deal with it..

Agree on the plugs. That front plug is a bit of a ...... I like how they give you an access panel that isn't usable. I had my latest upper radiator made with a relieved (hump) section so that the plug is easily removed through the panel. Should have been there on the factory unit. You can pull the front plug in 2 min.

One of your plugs is bad, You are running on one cylinder, It happened to me right before I sold the bike.

99% of panigales would have low mileage so I would say map sensor over spark plugs, spark plugs don't get replaced till the major valve service.

Don't bother draining gas if the bike was fine two days ago, that won't be your problem.

+1 on the plugs

Gas smell is not from bad gas, it is from unburned gas.

bad plugs produce gas smell

I would start with plugs as well, and keep fingers crossed its not a sensor as advised earlier

Check your flapper valve on your exhaust to make sure it isn't seized/stuck shut. Happened to me and the bike sounded and ran like ..... Ended up safety wiring it in the open position.

Update on bike . I took it to the dealership over 2 weeks ago and still haven't gotten it back but that's another story. They told me it's an exhaust sensor that's stuck in the closed position. I was also told that the only way to repair it is to flash the ecu and bypass that sensor. Also because the only way to fix it is an aftermarket flash it's not covered under the extended warranty.

just get rid of the servo flap and dont worry about by passing it. it will throw an internal code that wont display on your dashboard.

also, if you purchase servo buddy or duc.ee devices, they wont do s##t to keep the bike from throwing and internal error (which won't affect the way the bike rides)

only way to be error free is modifying the ECU like they told you, BUT, you don't HAVE to if you don't wanna spend $300 to do so...

What a great dealer. They should have just disconnected and wired open the exhaust flapper and thrown away the exhaust motor for you.

LMFAO...the dealer said "the only way to repair it" is to flash the ECU. I would say, "Ok, cool, while I weigh my options, can you give me that in writing"...Watch them change their tune. There is NO fuking way that a dealership said to flash ur ECU and its the only way to repair the bike. If they refuse, call DNA and tell them what your dealer is saying. After they slap the dik of the dealership, they will quickly fix your bike the right way.

Morons.

Each exhaust pipe has an O2 sensor. But never heard anyone use the term "stuck closed" with sensors. As someone else suggested are you sure they are not talking about the flapper valve. If that is the case just disconnect it.

They literally told me the only way to fix it is to reflash it. I went back and forth with the guy about that being rediculous but they kept telling me the same thing. New tires fix an oil leak and this reflash has taken 9 days. They told me the bike would be ready today and when I called they said it's not ready. Not having a good experience here

Start the conversation with "My dealer is telling me that they cant fix my bike unless they flash the ECU with an aftermarket firmware and it will void my warranty. I dont think its a good idea my dealer flashes my ECU beyond factory parameters, what do you think ?"

That will get the wheels going. Your dealer will regret their B.S.
