All you get is geometry changes that a set of Attack triples could change, titanium rods that that combined with their software get another 500 rpm and "not much more power over a base". I personally was looking for the KERS F-1 system, the further adjustable Ohlins forks (manual), more hp in wet mode, and magnesium wheels.

I'm very disappointed. But on the other hand - happy the changes are minimal so I won't have to go order one. ;)

All-in-all not a ton different, I won't be too upset I bought my S, especially with a 30k price tag for the R.

they did stated that they werent focus on the top end increase, but rather a broader power band.
i currently have a base, so the step up should be noticeable

George, you can always change the power output in wet mode, you dont need an R to do that

The Tank will be offered separately, so those with an S or Base will be interested. The remaining new DP parts are due to be released before the end of the year with the new UPMAP.

Those with Tricolore will naturally pass on the tank.

I have my name down for an 'R' a while back on the basis I knew they would make one but i'm pretty sure i'll not take it and make the big jump next year to a Desmo.

Kam, do you have a tip somewhere that a new Desmo is coming?
a Desmo is a different animal though, pricing aside, i like the 1098R better than the Desmo for what they are.

No real tip, I'm looking at the old Desmo as I've always wanted one. I know my Panny is faster and a more useable bike in the real world but the Desmo in my eyes is a one off.

I maybe wrong but with the way emissions and regulations are going I can't see Ducati ever building another bike like the Desmo so guessing my money will be safe.

I really wish I'd bought a 998R when I had the chance as these will soon be hitting 20k in the UK.

i do agree in the Desmo's exclusivity, have seen it in person a few times and love it! Honda also confirmed a road going version of their MotoGP machine, Ducati better answer to that move, or else there is no "Checkmate" :)

aiming more toward wsbk than the average ducatista, the tri still looks great

"average" and "ducatista" dont really go along, you know. haha. for 30k, i dont think its a bad deal, the Tri is beautiful, but i dont mind trading the paint theme for the added power (more midrange) and the up spec suspension.

That's awesome, I think there is a sales guy at Ducati Seattle that should be eating his own words right about now

I already had my panigale, he told me that he was told from his sources high up at Ducati that there was never going to be a 1199R, there was never going to be one made. I laughed and said Ducati has always made a R model why would that stop now. He told me I had no idea what I was saying....... Lol

looks like you should pay a visit to him sometimes next year when the R is confirmed!

That "slight boost" could be another 5hp, which would allow the R to reach the magic 200hp mark more or less! That alone might be worth the price of admission for most? :)

When the article said $30,000, to me that means $39,995 + freight, prep, tax, and some other new Ducati Performance parts soon to be released = $45,000 +/- in my book. So I am happy I bought a 1199 Base ABS and the DP parts.
