I recently purchased a 2014 899 Panigale with 6,000km on it. Bike is mint with all service records. I have put 200 km of pure joy on it. Tonight when returning from my ride, the bike suddenly started to sputter and only rev between 4-5k rpm and only go around 60 km/h. After pulling to the side of the rode and continuing to ride because I was close to home it suddenly started working like normal except the check engine light came on. I got it to the garage and it now has the check engine light on and the oil pressure light on. Not sure what exactly is the issue and any insight would be extremely helpful to this new ducati owner.

Thanks

yep, what BP said....but arm chair quarterback here....sounds like MAP sensor...not reving over 4k is classic symptom for that...but other things could also get you there...ive seen a wheel speed sensor do that as well....

you can google the codes and get close to the issue here...but this site is not the exact verbiage the dealerships have access too, with their reader...

Thanks for the help. The closest dealer is 3 hours away so I am hoping to be able to test the MAP sensor first before making the trip.

I think most generic code readers can read the OBD code from the bike. You’re limited as to diagnostic functions etc. without the specific tool than can read Ducati’s CANbus.

you can grab generic ones on ebay/amazon that work just fine...i always have a couple spares in my tool box just in case. dont waste money on the ducati part....so $$$$

Pulled the fairings off and started wigging connections to see if I possibly just had a loose connection. My check engine light has gone away and the bike is back to full power. Not sure I believe this was the issues and will be staying close to home for the next few rides. I appreciate the tip about the code readers, I have ordered a adapter from amazon!

Thanks for the help

glad its working again...my bet is on thoes MAP sensors homie! replace them, and blow out the hoes that connect them to the side of your heads on both cylinders!
