i hope this swingarm avoids the pumping-effect accelerating out of corners and give the bike more stability on technical side.
Comparing to the beauty of the real panigale its a big step backwards in design.
i wonder how the heatshield will be. it looks that they had not enough space left for the new heatshield design of the panigale 2013.

That might be the case but what will 899 race in?
The 1199 will retain single side s/arm

The single sided swing arm is what drew me to ducati's when I was young (and the sound) and played a part in the bike I own today 1198sp . Really hate to see them go the other direction , sssa is sexy on superbikes :)

Ducati claim that with the current stamping/casting weldment their SSS is lighter than most DSS. If they went DSS it's probably to control costs.

A dss with a similar design and weight will be more robust than its sss counterpart. While it may be cheaper, I do not think a dss was put in place for costs. Releasing a Mickey Mouse Panigale that wont sell would cost them a pretty penny.

I can't find a specific article now, but I seem to recall that early in the design testing, the 1098 was tested with a regular swingarm which lap the test circuit a second per lap faster than the single sided one. I would think it would enhance track performance significantly just based on flex characteristics and potential for the suspension actions that you mentioned in your post.

Cost cutting for the little sibling. Don't like it one bit, but in a way it may be a good idea as it will distinguish it with the elder 1199.

I've seen stranger things done in the wild...like that Aprilia dressed up in Ducati clothing for a Tom Cruise movie. November is just around the corner, I'll be holding my breath until then.

Don't like it, reminds me too much of the 999 with it's double sided swingarm. Didn't like that bike anda I even had it for about 2 yrs and got rid of it. Not pretty at all.

this is a photoshop'd image.

I don't think it is. Or if it is, its an amazing job. Theres not one messed up shadow, not one improper gradient, and if you zoom in on where the "899" would be, you can see its tape.

I believe it is a real image. Time will tell though.

Personally, I think its someones 1199 with stickers over the 1199 with a non-OEM windscreen. Then a photochop on the DSS. Just my $.02. I'm sure any new 749/849/899 will be almost as beautiful as our 1199's. Maybe Ducati will throw in a free heated seat as well! Lets just hope they can engineer new bolts that don't randomly fall out...

They would have had to photoshop the engine in a different spot, created the swingarm out of nothing, went through the trouble of adding O2 sensors and a wire loom running up the side, etc etc.

I understand, it very well may be real. I didn't notice the spots you mentioned but who knows. I've seen many pictures like this turning out to be real and also fake. Time will tell.

I agree, time will tell.

Just spoke to the my local dealer and he said nothing officially has been released from the factory so far, however, keep an eye on the EICMA Milan show, the 899 could be there!

He says it is highly likely there will be a baby Panigale at the Milan show.

I think its a fake. The single sided swing arm is trademark Ducati these days and the weight isn't much different from a double sided swing arm. Given this, why would they go to the trouble/cost of developing a new swing arm design when they already have one? Cost efficient vehicle/bike manufacture these days is all about reusing parts across the entire model range and I doubt there would be any cost saving form a new swing arm design given that they are already tooled to make the 1199 one. Having the Audi bean counters in charge now would seem to make this less likely too.

Aside from this its fugly.
