Well, here we go. This morning at around 6am I started my 36mi commute from the suburbs into Washington DC. About 8 miles in, the bike went bananas.
This was my first experience with a major issue on the bike (I mean, it's got 2k commuter miles on it).
If you haven't experienced it, when the "Can-Line" error starts, all hell breaks loose. Pretty much every indicator on the LCD blinks, the turn signals do their own thing, even the headlight decides to turn on, turn off, flash at weird intervals... which is all something special if you're riding before the sun is up.
All of the rider aids seem to be disabled; RPM gauge becomes non-functional, ABS & all the Dxx functions seems to get disabled, and the bike feels very "raw."
Pulled over, tried the old "turn it off & on again" (I work in tech, so this seemed like a reasonable solution). No such luck. I was able to limp it back home, but it was not a pleasant experience.
Guess I'll be calling the dealer when they open, and maybe pushing it to the front of the neighborhood and calling roadside assistance?
Here's a terrible video of the LCD; it was really hard to get the phone to read the screen, but I wanted to have this for the dealership / Ducati anyway:

After a bit of searching, it seems like it's just an electrical issue, but still... if folks were dealing with this in 2013, how is it still an issue?
