2016-2017 Panigale R : What is the BEST FlTTING lithium battery brand & part number that lines up BEST with both terminals w/out modding the box?

Apparently, the correct replacement Lithium Ion Battery is not easy to find. The OE Skyrich isn't made anymore - not that I would even want another.
The original OEM Skyrich HJT7B-FPZ is toast. It has an adhesive foil shield wrapped on the engine side and it bloated out both side like a football.
I wonder how much the shield really helped to keep it from melting the case.. If anything it was probably ready to explode.

The current part numbers I find don't have info for dimensions, or the polarity is reversed in the pic, or it has lower cca, or the dimensions are wrong -too big -too small, or flatout it's an AGM.
I don't want lead for the weight or the potential to leak.

Fire Power has to make the right size Lithium, but I can't find a verifiable part number anywhere.
I was told Shorai and given the Tucker Rocky part # 423805 , but that one is too small and I would rather not bend the cable ends to fit.
I'll improvise an adhesive insulator shield around whatever I get if it helps.
I want to have as close to the OE fit as possible... ....AND GO!!

Shorai, antigravity, SpeedCell should all be fine. I always thoguht SkyRich was sought after because it’s OE

Part codes are the mystery.

Dude at the track over the weekend had a new Antigravity fail on him. I didn't see his, but I think he said it was smaller than OE fit and he had shimmed it.

The heat is always on mounted on the left side of the engine and heat murders them. Must be no space for it anywhere else on the bike I suppose.

Wait a sec I do remember antigravity having an issue earlier this year that became known to them as I could not get my hands on one for my 1299 because they were reworking that specific battery and I’m pretty sure it was a revision to offer better longevity in our hot bikes.
Hopefully moving forward no more antigravity issues

Who sells and stocks Skyrich in Northern California? Would be nice to have that HJT9B-FP by Friday morning. Earliest delivery would be next week

Anyone else have a Li battery in their 2016 / 2017 Panigale R? How's it working out for you?

I bought the Shorai LFX14A2-BS12 from a Ducati dealer. It's smaller than the stock Skyrich, but with the supplied foam shims it fits and works well. Also, I had to use the smaller terminal hardware from my original battery because the diameter of the new hardware with the Shorai was too large for the terminals.

Your best bet is a Shorai LFX14A2-BS12 battery its smaller and is plug n play no mods. Want to have even more room and lighter setup go with one of these carbon trays with that battery.

Electrostatic- It looks like you already found a replacement for your question above, so congrats and I hope it works well! Here's some details from my experience that may help you and others on the board in the future.
I swapped out my '14 'R's factory lead acid Yuasa YT7B-BS (mass=2555g) when it hit its natural life expectancy. I chose the Lithium Ion Skyrich HJT9B-FP (mass=620g).
I've had zero issues with the Skyrich in fit, form, and function. The case size is identical to the factory battery. I ride my 'R as intended on both the tracks and canyons of SoCal. I don't do any maintenance charging and the bike starts every time. I'm quite satisfied with the Skyrich and actually sought it out based on being the factory battery provider on the SL.
The swelling you describe is a typical lithium ion pack failure. It should survive around 1000 cycles unless subjected to some form of abuse such as extreme environment or excessively high/low voltage. I tried to attach pix of both batteries but apparently cell phone pix are too much for the site to handle. Oh well...
Enjoy!

Skyrich, wps, firepower, shido are all the same battery. Best lithium around I think. The HJT9B fits exactly like stock. Holds a charge for a year. Has a status indicator button. The lightness is incredible. 2 year warranty. They're good stuff.

Have read a few horror stories about Lithium batteries on Ducati's. I've used them before on bikes, so am aware of the faster starter operation and eff-all weight. Do the newer breed of 'unable to overcharge circuits' batteries make a safety difference? Eg: risk of fire, swelling. Any experiences to point me in right direction? Current OEM battery at end of lifespan after 4 1/2 years, 3.5 volts at present! Thanks, Dave

Yes, they’re a game changer for safety, life expectancy, and ease of charging. A high quality multi cell lithium replacement battery will have a built in BMS (battery management system). It’s a small board that spies on the cells in the pack and controls what the battery does with voltage in and out. The rub is complexity and potential for failure over a dumb lead acid battery. I believe lithium is worth the risk for the weight savings and lack of maintenance benefits.

i use only life and dont want to go back to acid.
but.!
never ever overload a life!
always have a look at the charging voltage. i recommend a additional check lamp or voltmeter.
the build in bms cant catch overloading.
it is typically limited to around 50 mA.
overloading will at least kill the battery.
x-racer is a good brand imo. but most important is Amps, don't choose a small one , more is better.

Skyrich HJT9B 120cca

Shorai same dimensions 270cca

What is up with that?

Their own site says 190

Everywhere else it says 120

Battery says 12v 180a on it but does not list cca that I can see?

Dunno. But if it’s good enough for Ducati SL it’s gotta be the way to go. Just like 2 ring pistons : )

My concern is overcharging whilst the engine is running. I don't know if the special electronics balancing load across cells does anything to stop it receiving too much amps/volts? We can use a special Lithium charger to control maintenance charge whilst parked in garage, if needed. And I am aware the SL had Lithium as standard. Just not sure if the charging systems on my base, the S, or R models are diff to the SL? Or controlled enough? Like I say, I am aware of the benefits, but never heard of any fires or suchlike on on the ZX10's, or Ape RSV4's that I used Lipo on before.
