Hi can some tell me what is the difference in the 2016 and 2017 model ducati panigale I am buying one next week and the dealer told me it was a 2017 model after some research I have found out its a 2016 model as the 10th letter on the vin is a G am I being pedantic or do I have good reason to say something to the dealer because no discount was offered.

You should ask if the Evo firmware update has been carried out. This is an upgrade to the ecu and traction control.
Is a bit of a pain as I'm currently doing the planning for my 1299(16) and the bike needs to be left there a few days to get the the update

Ok thanks for that I will ask them if it has If not I will tell them to do it. Ok I'm a bit lost what are the benefits of having this update obviously better traction control but how will the update to the ecu make the bike better.

I guess it's like any programming based system, it will have new or changes to the operating system and improvements/ developments included... one point is that it took a few goes to get my up map activated for some reason, but now all is good.. fingers crossed

Letter is G so built year is 16 BUT it can be a 2017 model year.
Bikes delivered begining of the year are build in the end of the previous year.
My MY17 was build 16.11.16.
You can verify the model year with the VIN thru ducati (email them) [email protected]

Asked my local dealer about EVO update for my 1299s 16' but nothing there yet.

Yeah, same here. Dealer said it's on order and awaiting release. The price will be under $400. I'm on their waiting list. It's all good though... I've learned to be very patient when ordering anything from Italy....

hehhe that's absolutely true.
I was told that the update will be free of charge but it was few weeks ago and something could changed.
