I think my favorite thing is that the oil filler cap is merely the OEM plastic part with a hole drilled for safety wire and not some ........ CNC overpriced part. The top clamp looks like a tractor part too; not the over engineered high priced CNC stuff on the aftermarket.

Racing is all about performance, functionality, reliability, weight, etc 👍🏻

Been there done that didn’t like it heating up something that’s glued together to 80 degrees … and the rim doesn’t retain much heat for the tyre

I wouldnt worry about the "glue" you would need to get to at least 150 plus before any issues occur, as for heat in the rim- just dont back off!

They don’t use carbon wheels in WSBK because they are rule prohibited, not because of performance.

They don’t use carbon wheels in any motorsport. This is multi factorial. It’s a combination of safety and cost (and culture). Carbon and lightweight special alloys (LSA) can and have been used safely in aerospace applications but the costs associated with engineering in the degrees of safety make them cost prohibitive. Using carbon and (LSA) also would not move the needle much in terms of performance and spectacle at the risk of safety. Ever since back in the 90s when Honda tried to run carbon wheels which ended in disaster and tarnished carbon’s reputation. Even if you changed the rules to allow carbon and LSA, you’d have to convince the riders that it’s safe and I think that would be the biggest hurdle. Riders risk their lives out on track racing close-quarters and using carbon or LSA would just increase the risk of danger. Furthermore, you don’t see any riders on carbon-wheeled training bikes.

If there were any issues with magnesium wheels, they would quickly get banned and they would revert to forged aluminum or some other known reliable alloy.
