Hello, this would officially be my first post to the forum so may as well make it my introduction as well. I purchased my second Panigale V4S a couple months ago, my first being a '21. I still have the 21 and ended up being my daily to work over the summer and also used while the new one sits on the work table being upgraded. And I will go ahead and pause here to take blame for the next line I am about to say, I don't know why I did it (because I can be a cheap@$$ sometimes) but purchased a dang clutch cover that wasn't from a Ducati quality approved seller if you know what I mean, its a clutch cover for crying out loud what could go wrong? Well a bad seal ring is what can go wrong, or the improper material used anyways. To add to it, even though I thought I check thoroughly to make sure it stayed in all the way around the grove while putting in place, I could have been part of the problem and it partially slipped out and I couldn't tell. ( I installed one on my 21 and worked great ever since.

After the simple mod I made some runs down the turnpike to make sure all is well. And well it was not! After about 10 min of riding I came to a stop and smoke was billowing from underneath. I limped back home and notice oil coming out of the top part of the cover I just installed. I pulled the cover off and noticed about a 1 inch piece of the seal was just missing!
I didn't see any sign of missing pieces anywhere in and around the clutch plates and basket. I took the O ring out of the factory cover and its sealed and no more leaks.

This was short lived only to notice on my way home the oil light was flashing sporadically and would turn off at higher revs and mostly maintained lit up at idle. I went ahead and did a oil and filter change just to see if any remnants were left behind and did not see anything.
Start up is normal, oil light immediately turns off after startup. But after it heats up and riding for 10-15 min the light starts in again. No overheating issues and no other warning lights appear. I checked the oil pressure switch and it looked brand new as it should, checked continuity and it reads N.C. I don't know how to actually check it while its running being I need to probe with the plug off and not sure if I can start it that way without throwing a code of some sort. I checked the oil window and its flowing just fine there too.

Any Ideas on what to check next?? (Happy Thanksgiving btw!)

Thanks

I’d reinstall the OEM clutch cover and while doing so remove the left side cover and inspect. Same with the oil pan and pickup, checking the screens.

There are scan tools which can read the oil pressure sending unit it real time, but I don’t know if that’s worth the spend, since the fix is still tear down and inspect.

True, I'll check into the scan tool. I may have a connection at my local dealer to see about using one or at least get the correct readings for one. I want to remove the pan, check the screen and even purchased a tube of Threebond to prepare, its partially breaking down the factory exhaust to get to it Im not looking forward too .
But it is the next to replace so maybe a good reason to start checking into a new exhaust!

Thanks for the input Ill look further into the scan tool. Thanks
