Hi all i hope you don't mind me asking 3 x question's in one thread, it says me putting up. two threads

1. Engine heat, i have ridden home today and after a couple of hours i could smell petrol coming from the garage, when i went in to investigate i found that the engine was still incredibly hot even after 2 hrs of standing still, so i believe is causing the petrol vapors to cook off, my question, is it normal for the engine to remain this hot after this amount of time, the exhaust is stone cold but as mentioned the engine is still too hot to touch. i have noticed this before.

2. Quick Shifter. The quick shifter works ok at low revs but when i rev high i.e. over 8000 rpm and above the gear lever remains solid will not move without using the clutch, this happens every time is give it loads of revs in one gear, i.e. when I'm really pushing it, the bike is due a service in Jan but i was wondering if there is anything i can do before hand.

3. The bolt indicated by the red arrow in the attached photo was loose and had all but come out, i have re tighten it, should i be worried by this

Thanks for any help

On the heat/fuel smell, does your bike have an EVAP canister and is it still hooked up?

Does the QS work normally below 8000? Is the problem with both up and down?

Checking torque on the fasteners is part of the normal service intervals. How many miles are on your bike? I don't know id be worried about it, but since you found one that was loose I'd give it a once over and check everything you can.

Thanks for the reply, I dont know what a EVAP canister is, so sorry i dont know if its hooked up or not, the bike is stock except for the usual bit of bling, yes the quick shifter works below 8000 ok and i only seem to have the issue on the upshift when i really accelerate, the bike only has 7000 miles its 2018 V4 BASE MODEL

Are you sure it's working, or are you just able to shift without using the clutch?
I presume qs is turned on?

The QS works ok up and down at low revs but once i accelerate hard and i am in the high rev range in all gears the gear lever does not move with the QS unless i use the clutch to shift up, the gear lever remain stuck and no matter how much force i try to shift up the lever will not move so i have to use the clutch but as i say its ok when i am riding normally, i have in the past has the message QS error on the dash and the sport mode light flash on and off, this happened for a while and to clear that i just turned the bike on and off, this seems to have gone away now, confusing, i most probably have to wait until Jan and the service to get it sorted, any answers about how long the engine should remain incredibly hot, i.e. 2 - 3 hrs. later is this normal

What year V4? Recalls done? When I first got my bike the whole garage smelled like gas. The radiant heat from engine was actually boiling the gas in the tank.
You could hear the bubbling. Eventually it stopped, I didn't remove the evap canister. Is bike still under warranty?

1. The bike is gonna run hot, it’s normal. Delete the EVAP system and try not to fill fuel all the way to the top.
2. Stock QS isn’t all that good. Switch to a strain gauge QS like a cordona. Also might be a good idea to replace the gear position sensor.
3.Bolts are known to rattle off. Check periodically and tighten as needed.

Thanks for the reply, i appreciate it, it has put my mind at rest, my biggest concern was the QS not working but ill get them to checked it at the next service, thanks once again, regards
