Just took delivery of a 2014, 1199s. The bike comes retrofitted with the 41t sprocket upgrade + 525 chain, as per what I have requested when I made the purchase.

I was told by my dealer and their mech that there is NO upmap or any software upgrade needed for this modification. Ok obviously, I am skeptical about that, so would anyone please be kind to clarify this for me?

Perhaps the 2014 models dont require the software update?

Pre-2015 non-SL panis have no adaptive algorithm permanently checking changing wheel diameter or drive changes. DTC parameters are hardcoded in the ECU on these bikes.

 yeah... What he said!

If I recall correctly the 41T sprocket was offered as a discounted upgrade the same time the heat shield upgrades were for the 2012 1199's and it's use was integrated onto one of the major software updates.

short story is the same software updates were applicable if you had a 39t rear or went to the 41t....the latest software is all you want either way.

I don't get how someone types "algorithm" and people are giving him internet ........ over it. ;)

Fancy word for math.
