any ideas on this issue (for me)? this is most prevalent in 1st gear and 2nd gear; my sw is most recent.....

at times in 1st and 2nd it starts to get really choppy from 4.5-6k....

It does make response much smoother and I prefer the engine braking to be more like a Ducati than a I4... EBC just adds a little gas on its own to the cylinders to control the engine braking but it seems to mess with the throttle modulation... I've had my EBC off for a while now and no issues with downshifts or heavy engine braking... Just my.02

will try to shut it off....thx for tips...

is there wheel hop on heavy downshifts with EBC off ¿ ¿ ¿ so far with EBC 1 i've downshifted hard into turns and had no issues with rear wheel, but as i roll on the throttle thru my turn it gets jumpy as well as once in a while just simply giving gas in 1st and getting that random rough surge feel (that could continue thru 2nd gear)...

I had that in the beginning, mainly when accelerating after a period of constant throttle, then I disconnected my exhaust valve and couldn't be happier with the result.

i dont believe the R with full termi has the exhaust valve -- can someone please confirm?

Not with full.

Slip ons yes.

The exhaust valve is retained in place with the Slip-ons.
But it's deactivated in every respect, and it's permanently left in it's default/wide open position due to it's return spring.

It's of no consequence as a result.

ergo, slipper clutch function + harder engine breaking = MOAR FUN!

will try. thx!

-- i've had the same issue, and with the EBC set to off, it really did help the issue - definitely helpful

-- however (for me at least) the extra engine breaking turns out to be way too much, so i switch it back to 3 when riding conditions permit :)

do u think the dealer can correct this while allowing me default EBC 1? i feel like it's a flaw in the sw at this point......

The only way I have been able to sort this was with an aftermarket flash. I have tried both tuneboy and Rexxer. Rexxer was the best out of the two.

Now I am feeling it on my new to me R and deciding if I care enough to fix it given I love the way the bike feels other than that. I believe I am missing the latest updated map. I will get any updates this weekend and see if it is still a problem or if it's tolerable.

i'll put it to you this way: when leaned over hard, coming out of a turn i start to wind the throttle and for me 5.5k means i'm still leaned over and coming out and this is plain unsafe to a point even tho i tend to power thru that range of surging....

i think Ducati needs to sort this out....

....well....to each his own feeling and way of using the throttle....but leaned over at 5k rpm....(?)......"downshift or get on the gas" :)

-- joking aside, turing off ebc, and allowing different levels is good enough for me - but when the manual says ebc off = maximum engine breaking, they do mean it, i felt it made it hard to get things smooth....for backroad riding, when you want to keep a decent pace when i set it back to ebc 3, i liked it -- try it yourself, you may like it too :)

so r u saying EBC 3 also ameliorates the surge issue ¿ ¿ ¿ or do u just prefer this setting for backroads and are fine with the intermittent surge ¿

-- prefer ebc = 3 setting for backroads - surging doesn't present itself as a problem while on the backroads, as the rpms stay happy, using all of the tach :)

thank u for responses ; will experiment at some point....
