Embarrassed to ask since I have owned several Ducati's over the last 14 years including a 1198 and 998 and should be able to make the decision on my own but I am not sure what to do. Have the opportunity to get a 2013 1199s with next to no KMs for the same price as a 959. Just street use for me. Any opinions? How does mid range torque compare?

959, it's powerful enough. And from what I've seen the torque curve is more linear with the new engine.

1199s.

Power aside, theres alot that the 899/959 lack compare to the bigger brothers.
the S gives you the fancy suspension, better brakes, Dash, LED headlight , SSSA lighter parts etc etc.

Add a Rapid bike & TB for Crusie control and downshift and your laughting.

Dont make the mistake and in 3 months time regret not buying the 1199S from start.

Having ridden both on track and road, I'd take the 1199s any day. Thanks

Those lightweight wheels.
And much lighter, believe it or not.
And those ohlins, bliss!
And that dash information.
And it looks a hell lot prettier.

To me 1199s was and is much easier to ride, both on track and on road.

I don't know whether the 959 has the same ugly side slipons in Canada as in Europe. If yes, I'd go for the 1199S.

2013 1199S (EU) -> 104 dB(A) :D
2016 959 (EU) -> 80 dB(A) :(

959 FTW!

In the end, opinions are like ......... Get what makes you feels good, but will let you sleep at night. IMHO, the 959 is the more bullet proof. I've raced the 899 and seen it raced in the U.K. As well. Not half the issues of the 1199s. The only reason the 1199s should be looked at is the SSSA. Other than that the 959 is the better all around bike for a variety of applications, street, track, and even racing.

Just my thoughts.

Thanks Lads I actually do appreciate all your view points. Will let you know what I decide. Funny thing is I loved my 998 more than the 1198 for riding pleasure. My 998 wasn't stock though so produced a healthy 135hp at the rear wheel.

I ended up going with the 1199s.
