How's this for another way around it?
Would it be totally ridiculous to look into a replacement (after-market? / custom? ) radiator, with a thicker core and more thermal capacity AND a adjustment to the controller that turns the fan on ( in my case at least ) at 103 C. ? Maybe activating at , say.. 95 C ?

Problems as I see them.
Cost, obviously.
Room. Is there any room to be had to increase rad capacity / size ?
Messing with the ECU to activate the fan earlier. Or could it be as simple as a different thermostat ?

ALSO: I'm wondering if this entire problem could be solved in software??
Just changing the fan activation temp to a lower one would HAVE to help right?

Or is there something I'm missing here?
I assume there is, or Ducati would have given us a software tweak, as opposed to the abomination that the images show..

If the bike can stop temps rising over 103 via fan, would it not be even easier to begin the process of stopping the heat from a lower start-point?

You tell me..

Hi J, yes...I feel the exact same way...maybe a larger or wider radiator core would have helped...oh well.....

How about a second fan on the upper radiator, as the lower radiator seems to be the only radiator with a fan? They could have put one on the top radiator and making kick in much earlier...yes...like 95C instead of 103C...

Just that weather here in the Phils is so hot...that riding a Panigale in this heat just exaggerates the heat issues of the bike.

I don't anticipate the exhaust not getting hot regardless of how big or effective the radiator is.

in the re-flash of my R1, we were able to have the fans come on 20 degrees earlier. another solution is to wire the fans to a manual switch

Really are we discussing this heat issue again. First you are sitting on an engine its going to be somewhat hot. Second its not that hot unless your wearing shorts. This may be the most overblown issue i have ever heard. Third now that Ducati addressed the issue you are not happy because you feel its cosmetically unappealing. Here is an idea, lets complain that you spend 3500 dollars for an all stainless steel termi system, you only get a 20mm bigger pipe and a carbon fiber heat sheild. Then you end up with worse performance then the stock system. Yea i know you paid 3500 for the weight savings lol.

sorry in my rant i didnt see someone said this already. Well i agree
+1 to daverodgers

you still wearing shorts, Mark?;)

you know my answer... don't stop moving if the heat from the exhaust is getting to you, but in the event of the bike getting hot coolant-wise; my solution for map changes or a switch is a good choice...my duc heat reg gets to 220+..I'd like the coolant fan to come on earlier just so as to not bake the engine...the pipes I can deal with...no complaint there.

nah i dont wear shorts anymore at all. i did it once or twice before wont do it now it burns my right calf from the clutch cover after about 40 min but thats not why. i just dont think its safe. i also dont wear sneakers anymore going to be buying the forma velocity boot for short rides like to the gym and i dont have to change them.

had a buddy who left his duc outside his gym...some douche poured a drink on it...guy is the quietest dude in the gym..you'd nevr know he was there...still someone has to be an ass and mess with his bike...

i dont get people . why pour a drink on it. hope he hit him with a plate in the head.

I can't see how to close or delete this thread.
If there's a mod, could you close / delete for me please.?

I love how people in a climate that doesn't reach 30oC claim the bike has no heat issues :)

We do have this thing called "summer"....and last July we had 14 days above 28°C.
It does get toasty and in city traffic even uncomfortable but then ANY bike does. So if you ride in shorts and flip-flops:eek: you might get your hide burned.

3 weeks or so back we had a day that reached 49 C according to my car which has proven to be very accurate in the past.
Don't even..
