Hi guys,
just got my bike back from a Ducati service centre, where they replaced the quickshifter and gear position sensor. I picked it up in my van without riding it.
Just started it, all fine, tried to engage 1st, and it lurched and immediately stalled. It appears the clutch isn't fully disengaged.
Any ideas on how to adjust? It's an R, so dry clutch.

Thanks,

Rick

Sounds like the clutch might need to be bled, as there isn't enough pressure in the system with the lever down to fully disengage. Not a difficult thing to do yourself if you don't feel inclined to take it back.

I bled it, but no joy. Clutch was moving, but not disengaging.

Looks like the plates had bound together as I have an open clutch cover and the dealer left it out in the rain. There was a fair amount of rust visible.

Started the bike on the stand in neutral, pulled the clutch lever in, engaged first. Obviously, the wheel started spinning. So, with the clutch lever still pulled in, I applied the rear brake. Et voila, clutch unseized.

bummer. if you have the tools to disassemble, iron-x, a wheel cleaner, is pH neutral and should work well on the steel plates. it doesn't harm paint but i am not sure what effect it would have on the friction disc or the anodized parts. you would need to take it apart.

No need to replace them already if the rust can be replaced by some solutions out there. And I've tried it myself the pores get normal and work just fine.
