Hi all, for those familiar with what it looks like under the gas tank, the floor of that area inside the frame and around the Throttle Bodies (TBs) is wet.

The surface of the TBs, wires and hoses are dry, but everything on the floor of the frame is wet. No large puddles, but it’s definitely visible and it’s seeping through the rubber grommets in the area and onto the engine.

Has anyone encountered this? There’s definitely spray on the frame walls and floor. Given the lack of visibility in the area and failed forums searching it’s hard to identify. Hoping to identify what needs fixing before diving in blind. Thanks.

Probably just your breather. As it carries oil back into the airbox you're left with an oil film.

blow by from the rings, or sucked from the bottom of the case through the breather. There is an upgrade kit that installs a one way valve (69929001A - KIT VALVOLA BLOW-BY) that will eliminate the crank case as the source.

If its the rings, at some point your gonna get A LOT of oil in that airbox and when you look down and your boots are saturated in oil youll know it brother...

a very light misting of oil i wouldn't be worried about. I suspect though that a ring starting to fail, allowed blow by of oil into the combustion chamber and lowered the octane rating of the fuel and causing detonation or pinging. On my 1199 the bike was so loud and vibrated so much I NEVER even knew it was happening... but look at my pistons and head...its obvious a poor fueling/lean condition.

Good luck buddy. So far my 1299 is doing great, just clocked 10,500 Miles!

Thanks! Do you know what part or part number the valve kit is replacing? Will help me figure out what exactly I’m replacing haha

yep, what Disco posted is the right way....its easy dude..

when you get the old piece out, stick your finger in there..if there is oil film you can prolly feel good about it being source of oil....if its bone dry....uh oh...
