Thus is going to sound stupid I'm sure, but coming from 1098s to the 1199s ivs never had so many electronics. Can I use just a regular bazzazz and keep all the des and dqs, abs dtc etc? Or is there more to it than that? I want to go with either the akra full system or Austin motors exhaust and need a tuning solution.

RapidBike module is what you need. Call Cycle Pro and ask for Yaman ((407) 277-5557). Tell him Leon sent you. Quite a few of us on the board are running either the RACE unit or the EVO unit.

RapidBike adaptive fuel injection tuning

LJuice26,

I have the full Akra and MWR filter. There has been numerous attempts to properly tune the "R" this year.. Unfortunately, the only shop that certified to tune the R is Mpls Ducati. They do a good job on regular service maintenance but the Pani is to new and complicated which prevents them from doing anything other than providing the updated flash from Ducati..

Can you share your experience with the Rapidbike fuel injection tuning? There was a another local tuner in this area that tunes Ducati exclusively but still green to tuning the Pani. He has attempted about 7-8 tunes in this area on the Pani but finds it very difficult to dial it in. He had concern on Rapidbike from his past experience. He stated it has been awhile since he has work with this system. I believe the Rapidbike for the Pani is also fairly new and would be completely different from his experience with older versions..

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.. I have to meet with my tuner next Tuesday as we discuss different options.. I will be sharing your information along with the link.

Thank!!

I have had a lot of joy with the PCV with Autotune. The Ignition module has not been released yet.

The Dragon Lady has had her Termignoni system powerkoted (ceramic)inside and out (including the slip ons) and I had the packing removed at the same time. I also have a MWR filter and a 43 rear sprocket. The PCV with Autotune (a wide band lamda per cylinder for individual tune) works absolutely brilliantly. The Dragon Lady is now an absolute joy to ride. The PCV's Autotune module also tunes in real time. Mine is set up to have narrow margins for tuning in real time so that if there is a malfunction in the system that it does not cause expensive damage. When I visit my tuner he downloads the changed maps so that the Autotune has new "narrow margins" to tune within if necessary.
It does not feel as if my bike has a mid range slump any more, but to get a dyno chart to validate that parts of the Dragon Lady's carbon fibre fairing will have to be removed and he is not prepared to do that. Once I take the Dragon Lady in for her 24 000 km service I will ask the dealer to remove the fairing and send her in to Dynojet for a run. Once I have that I will publish it on the forum. B|

The RapidBike Module I has the the Race unit which differs from the Evo in that the race has ignition timing management, pit lane limiter and engine breaking management. RB supplies a map (I have the termi slip-ons) and it adjusts the map on the fly as you ride. It also utilizes the stock 02 sensors. I may the throttle more responsive and smooth. the other effect it that I gained HP across the power band including 7hp up top. forum member Chaz came over my house this past Sunday and I rode his bike which has the RB EVO module installed. Again, very smooth. You can hold the throttle at any rpm and speed and there is no lurching, just steady RPMS and if you hit it, she takes off. JeffD also has it installed and he loves it as well.

I have the Rapid Bike Race module as well and it definitely transformed the bike. I have a full Termi system, MWR filter and the 41 tooth sprocket. Very smooth and a solid bump in hp.

Akunochi, when you call the shop, ask for the Ducati1199 forum discount and make sure you tell them Leon sent you.

I will thank you again. I will have to let the pocket book recover from my always expensive moto gp weekend coming up.

I'm on the fence on what system to use.

Question:-

if I buy a used ECU then use that with what ever setup I go with, I could keep the stock ECU in case I had a warranty issue which could be swapped back without any evidence of changes or it removal ?

Mileage is stored on the dash TFT display ?

Mileage is stored in the ECU. There are no warranty issues with the RapidBike Module. In fact, my dealer installs them on customer bikes and there are no issues with warranty work.

Tuneboy TuneBoy - Engine Management Systems

What it does is unlock your standard ecu so you can tune it. there is no add on needed and if you are worried about warranty when you drop the bike in to your ducati dealership you can remove the map (puts it back to stock mapping) and then reinstall the map once you pick the bike up.

It has alot extra too: Cruise Control, 3 maps, control of the ducati quickshift (speed up or slow down the shifts), auto-blip downshift (needs a new shift linkage for this) and they are working on launch control too

cost is $600 plus tuning cost

I rate it very highly and have it in my 1199. I am currently getting new exhaust installed and new tune done. However i want 2 tunes one normally tune and then another tune which has more fuel on the over-run so the bike will pop flames. the great thing about tuneboy is that they can install 3 maps and you can select which map you want before you turn on the bike

My dash was replaced, my mileage was 0 after. Same ECU.. I doubt mileage is stored in the ECU.

I spoke with dyno tuning shop in NJ, name escapes me now, but highly re guarded & recommended, he told me the TuneBoy really opens up the ECU and
much more detailed work is required to program one with a custom map.
However is there a map available for the R from TuneBoy or do you have dyno tune.
I really like the idea of auto blip down shift.

Of course could go big and get Marelli Race ECU with custom harness ,,,,,!!!!

no idea.

i have a custom tune which included mapping of both front and rear cylinders fuel and timing, plus few little other things. boost power from 165 to 171 stock.

i am not a fan of downloading maps, its will worth the tuning cost (depending on time would be between $400-$600) to have a workshop tune the ecu to suit your bike.

If the tuner can tune PCV they can tune tuneboy

custom map, cost was about $600 for tuning time, however they cleaned up my map so much i still had a slight blip at 3000rpm but ride-ability was alot better, i just drop the bike off today for exhuast and retune looking forward to seeing how that turns out

here is a video of diavel with the auto blip down-shift

it is on my list but at $500 i have afew things i wish to do before it
