Guys This may have been discussed, but search did not get a definite answer. I want to get an Akra slip on for my 1199 and want to know if I need an up map?

To my knowledge there is none available like the termi, but has anyone ran without upmap and had any issues?

I think the new 1299 has rebranded akra.

No upmap needed. The Akrapovic was designed to work with the stock mapping.

The upmap is designed for the Termi system. I wouldn't expect optimal results, versus using mapping specifically designed for the Akrapovic system. Its not to say that you couldn't install it, but unless you have a dyno any results would be purely conjecture.

Tuneboy includes air/fuel maps for use with the Akrapovic system. Comparing the values to the Termi maps, its readily apparent how small the corrections are compared to the much larger change in values on the Termi maps.

It's been mentioned few times before. No need for anything but it certainly would help if you had it remapped. Is it necessary? No. I've had mine for a year without any tuning option. Recently purchased a termi full upmap but I'm waiting for a dyno day before i install it since i will do a before and after run the same day. I'd get the full over the slips any day.

All I can say is why only the slip on?

$2800 for a slip on when a full system can be had for $3300.

Oh well.

Either way you'll enjoy it big time!

If no upmap is needed for full system I will get that.

How does the akra heat shield hold up compared to the OEM?

I had the full system on a 2014 R, using the Ducati/termignoni full up-map key. No issues

Heat shield was..... okay, it can get warm...... but then I live in the UK where temperatures never get that high, 32 degC max.

Money well spent :D

At the time I bought mine the slip on was $2600, on sale for $2400 and the full was $3500. Its still $1k+ on an already very expensive part for what is really just a weight savings.
