Hello guys, I am having a new Akrapovic full system installed on my 1299 S and was wondering if my fuel mileage will change. Thanks for any info regarding this exhaust system.

do it yourself you will save a pile of money and its easy. basic tools and the system comes with great instructions

I do not know about mileage, be about the same. I noticed no difference with mine but have never measured it. Its the last thing I think about with this bike

I didn't notice any change in the mileage when I added mine. I think the MPG sucks on this bike but I didn't buy it as a gas saver so I cant really complain. The exhaust adds some good mid range power and sounds better. You will be happy with it I'm sure.

Easy with the right tools and some level of mechanical experience. It's not really something your average Joe could do comfortably IMO. The exhaust itself goes on fairly easily, but it's everything else you need to remove and re-install just to get to it that creates the challenge.

That said, certainly more rewarding to do it yourself if you can.

As for gas mileage, the difference would be negligible but for the fact that you'll be on the gas a lot more enjoying the sound. If fuel range is a priority for you, you bought the wrong motorcycle.

I'm getting better average with the 1299 than I did with my 675... And long distance I don't think many things can beat a big twin... At 130km/h on the flats she gives over 20km/l.
Check out fuelly.com, open source fuel log. Not many 1299's there...

Weird. I'm the opposite. My 1299 empties a tank like nothing I've seen. I get the light around 85 miles. I can almost do an entire track day with the 675R on one tank.

Yeah, it's certainly not confidence inspiring. For longer rides that take me into "back-country" with big gaps between fuel stops, I carry an extra liter of fuel in my backpack. Never ran out of fuel in my life, and I don't intend to do it on my motorcycle.

There's no way in hell the 1299 would be getting better mpg than a 675. Not even if you're babying the 1299 and going hard on the 675 either. Not possible.

I can go twice as far on my 675R than the 1299. My readout says I get 29 mpg and I question even that sometimes.

Go check my logs on fuelly.com. All there in ink. I must say that I think our fuel quality is pretty bad.
Makes sense to me. At 140km/h on the freeway the 675 was doing about 8000rpm if I remember correctly? The 1299 is coasting along at 4900rpm. Even if you check the dash mpg.... The 675 fell below 20km/l at just over 100km/h and the 1299 only goes below at around 135 to 140.
Ps. The 675 was a street r. The wind resistance did not help.

I see. Might be different with the street triple since it isn't as aerodynamic. I had a 2010 675SE and that thing got over 40mpg easy.

You guys are absolutely right, I did not purchase this bike for the gas mileage. Just was wondering if the Akra would change it. Thanks for your input.

most likely your mileage will be worse than before, not for the system itself, but for the fact that you enjoy the noise it makes and therefore rev it more - resulting in worse mileage
