I know it's NOT being run, just not sure why. I'm sure it's allowed. The EBR is same basic engine dimension and its running. Same for RC8.
 
It is not currently homologated, and Ducati said they would homologate it if a race team presented them with an acceptable plan with a good chance of being successful in the class, otherwise they're not going to spend the money on homologation. In other words, if you want to run as a backmarker in the AMA Superbike class they have no interest in homologating, but if a team has good infrastructure and can sign a top rider, they'd do it.
 
The AMA series is in pretty sad shape. Very little public support as well as factory support. Josh Hayes running a 10 year old bike and no one else can step up. The Daytona sportbike class at least has some competitive racing going on.
