Without taking cost into the equation, or a good deal, has anybody switched from Shoei to Arai?

My current helmet is a Shoei XR1100, but with the Panigale, I find that it's being pulled up a fair amount.

I'm tempted to move to an Arai RX7-GP or Quantum ST.

How does the Arai compare to say the X-Spirit 2 or XR1100?

I haven't had those two models, so this may be apples/oranges, but I did switch from an X-11 to the Corsair V. The fit was equivocal. Both are made really well, but the Corsair V is noticeably lighter. The Arai is a bit noisier, but has much less buffeting at higher speeds. Not sure if this helps...

I have a Shoei RF1100 and switched ot to an Arai Corsair V. I have a more oval head and it fit better. The Shoei would pull up on my chin and eventually hurt my neck while riding no matter how much I tucked in.

Their new GT Air looks nice. I'm an Arai guy for fit & just generally liking their approach to helmets. If a Shoei fit me right, I wouldn't hesitate at all.

To me, their it's no money better spent then on good gear. The more comfortable, the more you enjoy the time spent in the seat.

I went back to Arai b/c my last Shoei was crap compared to my old grv and rx7. I'm now wearing Corsair V and it is an amazing lid.

I went from a Shoei RF1100 to an Arai Corsair V & would never buy anything other than an Arai now. To me cost is not important. A couple of hundred bucks extra for quality is worth it.

Thanks for the replies. I'll go down the Arai route this time.

I went from a Shoei rf 1100 to an Arai Corsair V when I got my 1199s. The Arai feels better on the inside and fits better, imo.

I've only used Shoei helmets since I started riding in '94, and most recently have been using a X12 which I really liked...Until my dealer tempted me to try on an Arai Corsair V. Damn him, but I really do like the fit of the Arai better than my Shoei. Like kruttz said above, seems like Arai fits my oval shaped head better.
Now here's an interesting historical fact. Arai was originally a high-end Japaneese hat manufacturer. When the owners son got into motorcycle racing, he couldn't find a decent fitting helmet, so he started to make their own helmets.

I have an an Arai Corsair V and a Shoei X 12. I think both are very high quality and I have certain things I like about both. The Arai is incredibly light and has a wonderful system. Also, for me, the Arai is a bit more comfortable. The Shoei is quieter and has easier shield operation. If I was using it for primarily street use, then I would probably go with the Shoei for ease of use and quietness. If it is mixed street and track, then the Arai. However, both are top notch helmets and are great for whatever the application.

Had the Shoei X12 and loved it for sure. Went to Arai Corsair V when got the Corse since it was a perfect combo and still use it , but must say I use the Bell Star more. Arai is a much more snug fit so it shouldnt pull up on you like Shoei does. Feel free to reach out to my buddy JD at Sport Bike Track Gear and tell him I sent you, he should be able to offer something off since their inventory is massive. The Bell's were even half price for a long time! Either way you cant go wrong w Arai.

I switched to ARAI.
It was much better then SHOEI.
However lately i switched to SHUBERT.
Which is much much better.

I switched 15 years ago

My first road bike helmet was an Shoei and would lift at speed i went to an Arai and I wont wear anything else now.
Had a big off and the Arai stood up amazingly well and my head even better.

I love the design of the right helmet (Doohan limited).
I have the Nicky 3 and love it!

I recently switched from Shoei to a Bell Star (black beauty). Stunning looking lid but more to the point it fits well and is the most stable helmet I've ever used. The transition lens is also a master piece. Well worth a look and some crazy sale prices on at STG. Got mine for $230!!!!!

I did something similar.
Needed new helmet. Have used Shoei for 25+ yrs. Have never been able to get an Arai to fit right. So decided to look at Bell since I was told that they had made a lot of improvement in quality in the past decade.
So got a Bell RS-1. Nice helmet. Fits as well/better than my Shoei X-Tec. Much quieter at speed and less buffeting. Have used it now for a couple of weekend rides. No complaints.

Looking to buy new helmet at lease two, do u guys know where can I get a good price on Arai???? Thanks :)

Decided to try one of these:

Appear to be getting some good write-ups at the moment. If it doesn't fit, there's a 7 day return on it, then I'll order an Arai.
