Anyone move from a 959 to V2? Worth it?

I have a 2018 959 and I'm debating on whether to move to a V2 in the near future. Some things to consider:
  • I got 0% financing on the 959 (have 2 more yrs to pay off, not sure I want to pay off early as it's free money)
  • Installed has OZ GASS-R wheels (and due to lack of space in the garage sold the stock wheels)
  • Installed the Akra slip-on
  • Goal is to add rear sets and Ohlins suspensions
I know there's not too much difference between the 2 bikes. The pros is that many expensive upgrades on my 959 can move to the V2 easily. I'll take a hit on the wheels but it should make the bike more sellable as it is a significant upgrade (granted I'll only get a fraction of the return if sold separately). Most likely I'll wait until either they start offering 0% financing on the V2 or there's deals to be had.

Does anyone know if the 959 Akra slip-on fits the V2? I guess it really comes down to the Y-connector pipe being the same length/angle. Not sure why Ducati would change that but Ducati and engineering logic don't go hand-in-hand.

I guess I’m biased but I like the 959 more than the V2. I don’t think the slight “improvements” between the 959 and V2 justify the switch in your case. With that being said, buy what makes you happy. FYI: The V2 Corse should be out soon enough. Wait for it?

0% financing on the 2020 models if you can find one. Unless Ducati cancelled the offer.

Sssa is heavy and well... stupid. Only benefit to one is super quick wheel exchange and apparently some people have issues with 2 adjusters. I ain’t one of those people and would rather not have the weight. Who here races Isle of Man or somewhere where they are replacing rear wheel mid race? The R pivot is the only one that clamps sssa from both sides. They are highly overrated and create huge cost increase when shopping for gearing or wheels

I wish my v2 did not come with one...

If only we could get a deal on some Pierobon swingarms :D

Most don't care about all that. Looks of a bike is much more appealing to the masses than whatever performance advantage a typical swingarm has over a sssa. Majority of us can't ride these to its max anyway. Typical swingarm hides the rear wheel and is also ugly as ..... Almost makes getting aftermarket wheels pointless, again for those who don't care much about any of the performance advantages. A stock 899, 959, v2, 1x99 or v4.... They're all far beyond my own capabilities on a motorcycle. I would have taken a sssa 600cc 1x99 body if they made one. All the middleweight and liter bikes are overkill.

As the years have rolled by my bike has become very familiar and I can push its limits in a way that I could really use improved performance in certain areas and given the difference that a single upgraded part makes to these bikes, a lightweight swingarm will be noticable. Whether it's worth it for your riding style is another story. The sssa is a trad Ducati thing that does make changing wheels easy and it looks great, but it wouldnt form part of any buying decision for me.
