Are all the 2015 R owners really shy or something?

With all the people taking delivery of their 2015 1199R's we haven't seen a single review from them.. not a peep. Are they a disappointment? Or are you R owners just shy and reclusive?? :D

Come on R owners, give us some sugar....!!!

Seriously.... There has to be 5 on here. I'm really starting to wonder. A brand new 2014 R at a KILLER deal off stick is starting to look like a fine option for the average rider like me ;)

Mutt has been posting here and there.

Reviews. Comparisons. Photos. Dyno.

Come one people. NOW !!! :D

Mine still isn't here. Tracking number shows Tuesday arrival. The one at MotoCorsa hasn't been picked up yet. I don't think that many people actually have one in their possession yet. I'm actually a bit annoyed that they never did any sort of a press event for the same journalists who rode the S. I'd have liked to have a decent review before I hand over $35k. Oh well. I should be able to get down to the dealer late Thursday if I get out of the OR in time. Expect an initial review next Friday night.

Their riding their bikes. Like you should be. Less typing more riding and reviewing. :D

Exactly. I'm not taking delivery until I hear a professional review...

I'm sure they will have a press event soon. Customer reviews and word of mouth are always better and are free, so why not start with that?

I want one !!!

Phuck a review. I'd take one if I could muster up $35k! Sight unseen. Yes please.

All assumptions...

You're telling me you'd shell out $40K sight unseen (tax, fees, title etc)? I can see the uber rich who shelled out $65K for the SL, being a very special run but the 2015 R? Whats not to say some reviewers would be inclined to say the bike doesnt feel much different from a 2015 R? Or hell, maybe the reviews would be the opposite and help sales big time?

Who knows. I'm sure one day there will be one.

From someone I know who has the SL and R he is pissed about the new R and feels he got ..... on the SL now. Just sayin'

Because a review doesn't mean .... to me. Absolutely nothing. Good or bad. I don't buy cars or motorcycles based on a review.

Uber rich? Shiettt..Far from it. This R is a "real" R, not like the last 2 models have been. The specs alone on this bike is reason enough to purchase sight unseen. Plus the stunning good looks just seals the deal. I don't see myself parting out n selling my 1199 but if I didn't already own a Panigale, the new R would be the most attractive of all sportbikes available today.

As much as you've complained about your white S and then went on to purchase 2 R's after that, it is surprising to see you're still supporting the Ducati brand. As much as you've wasted on those 3 bikes, your hp4 and now your new R, you should be the first one to understand that it's only money. It comes n goes. I'm sure there are plenty of members on here who could actually afford an R. Doesn't mean they're interested.

Like I said....sight unseen! All day all day!

Still in the running in here, so not a lot of point in analysing the bike at this stage.
The extra 1000 rpm after the first service is a bit of a non event as the "UMPH" seems to be much further up the rev range.
I'm hoping to finish the run in next week and have it on track the week after, alongside my 1098R, so will have a better comparison then.

I have a suspicion that when the press finally review the R, that they will not find it significantly better than the S, due to the wider torque spread that the 1299 gives. This is probably why reviews are delayed, as it means that they actually sell a few before folk find out things aren't as great as they maybe should have been.

I'd have considered buying one instead of the 1299S, but I had it in my head that they were 40k, and didn't even ask the price. However, I really just wanted a track bike to whale on this time, and the 1299 torque is fun. The "uber rich" bikes (ok all you have to do is work 80-90 hours a week at normal wages, and you can have any of these you want...) can be retired to the collection.

That seems like a lose-lose proposition. Would he have been pleased if his new $40k R wasn't impressive? Nonetheless, if he's unhappy now, just wait until the 1299SL is announced!

I hear ya. But it makes me think it's too much like the SL.

only place i disagree with you is on looks double0. the reason i say that is your 1199 is one of the nicest panigales i have seen of any version. if you go buy looks only i would keep yours its one of a kind i dont care about the race specs.

ps white pani has not wasted any money at all trust me on that. very smart with what he does.

Reviews will take a while. My bike was the only one to arrive in Dallas last week and they don't expect another until sometime in June. I'll post up once it's ready to go. put some pics on another thread.

First service next week........ Tuesday. Not much point until then as I can't really give you the full picture.

First impressions: Awesome. They definitely have gone for the less is more approach with this bike.

The bike feels super light and agile. Had to turn the steering damper up a couple of clicks straight away. Its a bit stiff just pushing the bike about, but once you're moving its super responsive. It takes hardly any input to start the bike turning. I don't know how but this bike feels lighter than last years R, which was no fatty in the first place!

The mechanical suspension, for me, is streets ahead. However, I am a bit old school, don't mind a firm ride and I never really explored the DES when I had it, just wasn't my thing. It's planted and feels like it's on rails. In the corners it doesn't seem to wallow and wobble as it did a few times with the last. It's just firm and confident and only moves if you ask it to. Nothing unmanageable or unexpected. Also, I have the suspension set in flat/race mode. But it still seems softer than the DES. Yesterday I covered 120 miles straight, in one hit, no stops, no problems. A few aches here and there, sure, but nothing majorly uncomfortable. (5'7" 157lbs for info!)

With that, fuel economy seems much better. 120 miles straight, then the light came on, with the same capacity as last year, I only seemed to get around 100 out of last years........ or is that just me? Riding conservatively though as I am still running in...... still managed to see 120 - 130

Quick shifter works well again, although I have found a false neutral a couple of times so you do have to be positive with your shifting, so that was maybe my fault. Auto-blipper is a great addition. Barrelling into corners just stomping down through the gears is great, again nothing too aggressive just yet, but it will be awesome.

As far as I can comment on the engine, it is super fast revving, it is astonishing really. Although I can't compare this years 1299, the gearing again is well set up. It's usable round town with no issues, bad manners or surging that previous models had. Just not had the pleasure of opening up yet!!! But the sound with that exhaust is amazing, especially with downshifting and throttle run off

............. more to follow!!!
