Just curious if anyone has thought about joining Atlanta Motorsports Park? Looks like it's pretty affordable for bikes for essentially a private racetrack. I think Mrs. Trident might just give me this as a Christmas gift. :D

Phil's ridden the track. I can say all the track day organizations have said they're not going to do organized track days there because of safety concerns. A lot of atlanta area riders are pretty disappointed about the track design and lack of safety for bikes.

Well, that's a bit of a buzz kill. If I'm reading the literature correctly it's only a one time initiation fee of $2,500 for bikes and $50 monthly dues. This gives you access to the track 120 times on an annual basis. To me, seems like a damn good deal for someone that it is within a reasonable distance from the facility.

I think you can view this thread without being a member, but this is a thread all about the track:

Atlanta Motorsports Park

and issues with it.

Oh man. Typical forum idiots. I didn't go there to set a new track record. Didn't even drag a knee once... would you mind telling these guys that was no sunday pace? That wasn't even new years day morning with a hangover... do they really think i' d go 100% on a brand new panigale on a track like this? With one of their gsxrs maybe... or my old rsv1000 for sure.

I think people in atlanta should try to understand the concept of this country club... it' s for people who don't care about the few grand a year and neither the last tenths of a second or even a few seconds.

Always easy talking if you can't prove better.

If you build a racetrack you get poor racers. If you build a motorsports park for members you get the big bucks. These people know their business. Therefore the track is perfect. It is challenging ad will never get boring. And you get a clubhouse and a pool.
I think most of them still don't get it.

I still like the track.

Damn i need to catch some waves tomorrow.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, I appreciate it. I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy a membership if it is indeed $2500 for motorcycles. I've spent waayy more than that on yearly country club dues in the past.

Like you, I have no ambition to be the next Hayden or Spies. I want to go to a place where I can ride my bike without a texting teenager killing me or a blue haired old woman making a left turn in front of me. I guarantee you that I have ridden roads that are far more dangerous (US129, 209 etc..) than AMP will be.

It's just like anything else, people will have their opinions and that's fine. Where it gets ridiculous, for me, is when people critique something that they have zero first hand knowledge of what they're defaming.

Hi trident. You're welcome. Typing on this driod razr maxx sucks ;-)
my reply referred to the other forum "racing Georgians" , i hope that was clear.

If you are really interested in joining AMP, contact the guys. They are all really nice and open for any question. Or plan a visit. One of them will take you around the track ( in a car) and you can get your own impression.

Best regards,

Phil

yep, I'm afraid that forum has it's share of "experts" sometimes the testosterone floating around there requires me to drop off for a while.
