I know there is a fairly detailed thread about insurance in the US, but what about here in Australia?

I have got massively varied quotes from around $1400 (IMR, QBE) to around $2400 (Swann, AAMI).

I'm a 40 year old Rating 1 with a good record in Yarra Ranges Melbourne.

What about the rest of you Aussies?

Try search there is a whole lot of info on Aussie insurance.

I found IMR very expensive too. QBE matched my NRMA quote but more coverage for riding gear so I went QBE.

Can anyone from Australia help me out here or recommend anything ......... I'm finally picking up my Ducati this weekend and can't believe the differences I'm getting from all Aussie members of this forum........

I've done quotes with:
InsureMyRide, Swann, Motorbike Insurance Australia, AAMI and I'm still getting and average premium between $3-$4K per annum???

I'm 29 and turn 30 in 2 months.

InsureMyRide was the best, so paid $870pa for comprehensive on the base model, including $3000 leathers cover and $1000 personal items.

Rating 1, no demerit points, no claims and 50+yo. I also have my Blackbird insured with them as they were the cheapest for that as well.

I suggest you speak to your dealer to get the best price. That is supposed to be part of their service - arranging finance and insurance.

So for anyone using Insure My Ride I presume you don't have Termi slip ons?

I did not choose Insure My Ride because they only provided $2000 of modification cover, hardly sufficient for a Panigale with an exhaust and a bit of carbon here or there.

For me I went with SGIO, $1700 for a Base insured for $33k, $550 excess, 1 claim.

Wow some of you guys are paying so much!

I'm 25
Shannon Insurance
Agree value 30k
New for old replacement in the first year
3k of gear cover
1k of personal gear
Choice of repairer

$970 a year
$750 excess

haha!

i did a online quote with insure my ride was similar price (think around $990)

but the killer was $1500 excess, and bike value only at 26k. plus no choice of repairer

Comprehensive insurance with NRMA, CBD, 38yo -->1,532 (discount b/c I have bike greenslip with NRMA).

Thanks guys!

I called Shannon's yesterday and the quote surprised me as I didn't expect they'd give such competitive quote. Premium was $1750.00 per annum without vary excess levels and automatically covering gear and choice of repairer.

Thanks again!
