It's finaly comming my base abs with full system fitted cant believe it , dealer has it ready for next friday , lookin forward to hearing that full system growl , any advice on running in chaps

Congratulations, just have slip on termis in mine, you won't be disappointed!

WRT running in everyone has a different opinion. I've actually run 2 Panigale's in now, I limited both bikes to 6-7k for the first 600miles so as not to void warranty, but for the first 50-100 really worked the motor in that band with hard acceleration/deceleration to help seal the rings.

Both bikes burnt between 100-200ml of oil in that time and haven't smoked or used any since. My recommendation would be to use race mode to do it, obviously just need to be careful with new tyres.

Also make sure they put your rear suspension into P (progressive) rather than F (flat) - F is far too hard for the road.

thanks for advice SPJ , what about rev limit , is it capped so as you can't go past 6k

No, but the tacho turns orange once you reach 6k as a reminder. Other things that might be useful...

Service light comes on at 622miles (1,000km), if you take it in for service prior to this the light will come on at 622 and you'll need to take it back again to be reset. I believe they are working on a software fix.

Tyre pressures should be around 30psi front, 32 rear. One of the bikes came with 38/42 (more usual Superbike pressures). Bike handles far better with 30/32 as per manual.

Fuel light/trip will illuminate and extinguish 2-3 times before it comes on and stays on. You'll have less fuel than the manual suggests at this point, don't ride past 27.4 miles!

thanks for the info bud , what sort of miles do you get from a full tank at say fast road pace ?

Light usually comes on (1st time!) between 105-115 miles. Once it stays on I wouldn't attempt to get past 25 miles.

thats not so bad at a [ fast road pace ] about the same as my other bikes Buell 1125r & cbr 1000 r5 although fireblade was a bit better 140miles

Thanks for tho info as well, picking my base with full Termi's up on thursday..Then doing a weekend in wales on it..which means it wont be getting it's first service until 800-900 miles but dealer says this is ok warranty wise.. You reckon i should get a filter and change the oil myself around the 600 mile mark, before i head back home?

I certainly don't think an early oil change would hurt, I know some will change the oil several times on the run in period. I left mine to 600 and it was pretty dirty by the time it was done. Not sure I'd really want to leave it till 900 if changing before then is an option.

I'd take spare oil for topping up, I know of at least one Panigale which used nearly a litre whilst being run in. You may also want to get hold of the tool for adjusting the rear wheel, chain will almost certainly require adjusting on run in.

Hope the weather improves for your trip!
