Base V4 Rear Shock Wrench

you need a new suspension person. Proper preload will stop you from being thrown. These bikes come way stiff On the back.Coming out a few turns on preload will solve it.

Mine was waaaaaay too soft from the dealer. Thank you for everyone suggesting things to try. What I still need is the tool. Where did you get yours? Do you have a link?

You’re wasting your time doing that. Get a spanner and set your preload first. You are being thrown from your seat because you likely have no static sag on the shock. Rebound won’t help that, it might only slow it down slightly. Order a spanner wrench on Amazon.

order of importance: preload, rebound, compression.

Thank you so much Brad. I'm not getting thrown from the seat but that's the best I could explain it. It was greaaat on the track but in the street it's a little bumpy.

thats somewhat to be expected. Get the spanner and if you have some extra cash buy a tool called slacker, it is a digital device to measure sag of the shock. For street and track somewhere in the 30-33mm area is appropriate and has worked for me. Track I crank it back to between 25-30mm.
Suspension isn’t that hard to understand once you learn it. Visit Dave Moss’s site and pay for his content and listen to all of it, it will pay for itself.

Thank you sir. Sag was set to 30.5 and turn it was much quicker. I've thought about doing a virtual with Dave Moss but wanted to do it in person. I'm still unable to adjust rebound in the rear (adjusted compression and also adjusted compression and rebound in the front to make them a bit harder). I can't find the ring in the diagram to adjust rebound in the rear shock. What am I missing?

Dial in sag and the other settings then mess with geometry changes (shock ride height nut and fork height in the clamps) to get the feel that you like. The lower sag essentially gives you a higher ride height, hence the turn in. My v4s turned in too fast for me so I lowered the back and set The forks about flush with the upper triple clamp. Now that it’s track season I might drop the forks a little more to turn in quicker and keep the forks compressed more in corners.

I’m not sure if the base v4 shock has an actual ride height nut though.

The S doesn't have the manual adjustment with the Ohlins....the diagram is not the same in the bike. I cannot find the rebound adjustment.

The damping on the s (rebound and compression) is electronic. The preload and ride height is still manual.

Anyone with a Base V4 know where the rebound damping adjustment is in the rear? I can't find it even with the manual.

The rebound adjustment should be on the bottom of the rear shock. It is not a collar that you turn but should be a slot that you will use a flat screwdriver to adjust.

Here's the owner's manual diagram and here's a pic of my shock.

Neither of them have what you show? Is that a pic of your rear shock? What bike do you have?
