So I had 750 problem free miles on my 14 1199 ABS, and then FLAG! I turn on the ignition, and up pops a big red "BBS" fault along with the amber CEL. I also noticed that the DTC had a dash displayed instead of the normal number. I immediately rode the bike home and hooked it up to the diagnostic tool. I got an error code of B1002 and the description said "accelerometer self-test" Apparently DTC uses an accelerometer along with the wheel spin sensors for DTC operation. I checked the BBS connector under the seat along with the white plug at the rear of the tank for moisture and corrosion. Everything seemed fine there. Nothing else is affected other than DTC. My guess is that the accelerometer in the BBS went south, as everything else seems to function normally. Anyone else seen this issue? I have seen a few BBS issues discussed in the forum, but not one quite like this. If it was any other manufacturer, I would be pissed (LOL), but I honestly expected something to go wrong when I bought the bike... How bad is that?? Really, I do love my Pani!

Ended up ordering a new BBS for the bike. Based on lack of response, I'm guessing no one else has seen this issue. One thought I had is the location of the BBS under the seat, and directly below that is the vertical exhaust header. Granted there is a heat shield covering the pipe, we all know it gets plenty warm sitting in stop & go traffic. I wonder if the heat contributed to the BBS accelerometer failure as electronics and heat really don't care for each other. I think I am going to get some heat shielding tape and cover the bottom of the new BBS before I install it. We'll see what happens! Should be here mid next week.

If it were heat, I'd expect more issues of failure. Especially considering you're on a '14 with the larger double wall heat shield.

More than likely, bad luck.

The last guy I read about with a BBS module heat issue was with a Termi full exhaust. I believe the foam/foil heatshield that came with the exhaust was not installed on the module and contributed to the failure. The full termi headers are much closer to the subframe than stock.

Adding heat shielding to the BBS module, under the seat, the inside of the rear shock, over the fuel pump, and the right belly pan are all recommended in my opinion.

Good luck !

Cause is unknown....

The exact placement of the blown fuse is loooong forgotten... Open your 2 fuse boxes just above the battery, use a small plier to drag them out one by one. Visual inspect and replace if blown. A 2 min job

Yeah bud I get how to inspect fuses, but they just should not just arbitrarily blow. Its a symptom of an electrical fault. Merely replacing the fuse isn't actually fixing anything.

Hey all. I installed the new BBS this evening and the traction control is back online. I had to reteach the gear position sensor as the indicator was flashing a "C" at me along with a blinking neutral light. The odometer is flashing dashes at me, which unfortunately I think I will have to bring to the dealership to sync the new BBS to whatever the hell it talks to in the dash. I have not been able to do it with my diagnostic tool....yet. Beyond the odometer, everything is operating normally.
